A little over half a year after Christine and the Queens (a.k.a Chris) teamed with French disco producer Cerrone for a rendition of his 1977 hit “Supernature” at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Chris and Cerrone have collaborated on a new single, “Catching Feelings.” Like “Supernature,” a scurrying, skipping synth line propels the upbeat tune over which Chris playfully sings, “Don’t be afraid of catching feelings for me.” The song will feature on an upcoming four-track EP.

Performing in front of a crowd is fun — but there’s not much to celebrate about the loneliness that creeps up during the lulls of being on tour. On Tuesday, Sunflower Bean debuted their new single “Nothing Romantic,” which captures those feelings of dread after being away from the stage and on your own.
“‘Nothing Romantic’ is about rejecting the myth of the tortured artist — realizing that the joys of creativity don’t have to come from the lows of misery,” the band — comprising vocalist Julia Cumming, guitarist Nick Kivlen,...

Jon Stewarthas taken some heat over the past month for supposedly not attacking the Trump administration enough. A week after Donald Trump was officially inaugurated as President of the United States, Stewart spent his weekly monologue on The Daily Show warning people to not overreact to every single thing the Trump administration does, and to not scream "fascist" every day. It was a more centrist take than the left wanted to see after the first week of Trump's presidency, resulting in a bevy of criticism and YouTube comments like, "Glad to read I am not the only one who doesn't see it the way Jon does tonight. Fascism doesn't come in with a bang; it slithers in and erodes the institutions from within." It's safe to say that, one month later, things have heated up.
Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, saw one of Stewart's most immediately acclaimed monologues since his return to The Daily Show in Feb.

Just one retail chain was enough for Taylor Swift to have the top-selling book last week and the biggest publishing launch of 2024.
According to Circana, Swift’s Eras Tour Book sold 814,000 copies over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Circana tracks around 85 percent of the print market, but the Eras numbers are more precise: Swift sold the book exclusively through Target, which launched the Eras tie-in on Black Friday.
Sales soared even as Swift skipped Amazon.com and other retailers and as some fans complained online that the $39.99 book included typos and other errors. Representatives for Target and Swift did not immediately respond to requests Wednesday for comment.
The sales put Swift in rare company. The only bigger nonfiction launch was the first volume of Barack Obama’s presidential memoirs, A Promised Land, which sold 816,000 copies its first week on shelves in 2020, according to Circana, which does not include audio and e-book sales.

One evening back in May, Sunflower Bean found themselves in the woods of upstate New York, caked in 200 pounds of clay. They were shooting Shake, a short film to accompany their EP of the same name, and their goal was to look as muddy as possible — a direct reference to Nine Inch Nails’ iconic Woodstock 1994 performance.
In the backyard of their Airbnb, the rock trio stood on a piece of tarp, performing the title track while routinely being hosed down to make them appear authentically muddy. “You have the idea...

With Beetlejuice 2 finally here, moviegoers will be eager to know whether or not there are any extra surprises in terms of a credit scene at the end of the sequel. It took 36 years for Beetlejuice 2 to happen despite the lasting popularity of Tim Burton's original movie from 1988. As predicted, there's still immense interest in continuing the franchise, especially when adding elements for the new generation through Jenna Ortega's addition as part of Beetlejuice 2's cast. While the franchise's future is unclear, the sequel's final moments help provide some insight.
Whereas the original Beetlejuice predominantly tied up loose ends for Lydia and the Deetz family, the story left the possibility of the bio-exorcist's return. That's why the development of a sequel occurred decades before Beetlejuice 2's story finally came to fruition in the last few years. This time around, the narrative centers around three generations of the Deetz familyAstrid,...

I first saw “Let It Be” when I was a kid, in the summer of 1970, just weeks after it was released. My family was coming off one of those “Vacation” road trips. During the miles of driving, we listened to Top 40 radio, which meant that several times a day I got to hear “The Long and Winding Road,” which I thought was the most beautiful song I’d ever heard. I knew that the first thing I was going to do when we got back was go to see “Let It Be” — and, in fact, it was the first Beatles thing I was old enough to connect to as it was happening.
The Beatles, in their early years, looked alike, and even after they’d entered the psychedelic zone with “Revolver” and “Sgt. Pepper” they dressed and coiffed themselves with a splashy coordinated harmony. They were unified. And that made a kind of supreme sense,...

The Netflix documentary Wham! chronicles the careers of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as the musical pop duo group, Wham! in the early to mid-1980s. The movie also showcases the eventual dissolution of the band, including their final concert together. Wham! amicably broke up in 1986 when Michael and Ridgeley expressed a desire to explore other avenues and projects. To commemorate their time together and as one last hurrah, the duo released a farewell single titled "The Edge of Heaven" and got together for one farewell concert called The Final at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on June 28, 1986.
Toward the end of the documentary, an archival interview from Michael revealed why Ridgeley was ready to leave Wham! in the mid-1980s. While they were together, Michael was seen as the superstar, and Ridgeley was more of an afterthought who was "the lucky guy that's coasted along with George Michael." Of course,...

Documentary following a group of women dancers over 60 is well made but leaves you wondering if there’s more to know about these spirited performers
Maria Loohufvud and Love Martinsen, a married couple as well as artistic collaborators, make their feature debut as directors with this affectionate portrait of the Calendar Girls, an amateur dance troupe based in southern Florida. Entirely made up of women over the age of 60, a few considerably older, the dancers perform on flatbed trucks in parades and retirement homes, community centres and private events in order to raise funds for Southeastern Guide Dogs, an organisation that trains guide dogs for veterans and other visually impaired people. Dressed in homemade, leg-revealing spandex and sparkle-festooned outfits that variously suggest unicorns or “patriotic reindeer” at Christmas time, the women perform dance sequences set to an eclectic selection of tunes, from Harry Belafonte’s Jump in the Line and Everybody by the Backstreet Boys,...

One of the biggest mysteries of the past Grammy cycle was the Best New Artist race, which seemed relatively weak and uncertain compared to past years. That said, the lineup ended up including some great acts from pop, American roots, alternative, jazz, R&b, and hip-hop, with the winner being jazz singer extraordinaire Samara Joy. This year let’s put on our thinking caps early to see what’s brewing in the race, which might be shaping up to be equally exciting.
Perhaps the most popular new artist right now is New York-based rapper Ice Spice. Ice has managed a couple of big hits, including the pop crossover “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2,” alongside PinkPantheress. Both Ice and PinkPantheress look to be heavy favorites for the award, as “Boy’s a Liar” is one of the biggest hits of the eligibility season so far. Ice Spice is arguably a bigger...

In a week when distributors and exhibitors reconvene for their annual Las Vegas meet-up CinemaCon and celebrate the post-pandemic resurge of the box office, the motion picture industry is also bracing for a potential Writers Guild of America strike.
With production and deal-making slowing down — especially with 98% of WGA West and WGA East members authorizing a strike if a fair new film/TV deal isn’t met by the May 1 deadline — how could that possibly dent the box office boom, one Gower Analytics projects will result in an estimated $32 billion globally, up 24% from last year, and $9 billion stateside, up 200%?
Just as a majority of exhibitors are getting back on their feet financially after Covid’s great shutdown of 2020-21, studio sources outlined a worst-case scenario to Deadline should the WGA strike span more than four months.
In short, the theatrical release calendar would see several date changes for pics, as soon as Q4 this year.

Warning: This story contains spoilers from the “Love Is Blind” Season 4 finale, now streaming on Netflix.
It’s never a dull moment on “Love Is Blind,” and Season 4 was no different. During the finale, which dropped on Netflix on Friday, it was time for the weddings. While viewers weren’t surprised by fan-favorite couple Tiffany and Brett saying yes at the altar, they weren’t the only engaged pair to tie the knot.
Chelsea and Kwame put all their differences aside and said yes, as did Bliss and Zack — who didn’t even get engaged until after the pods. While Jackie and Marshall didn’t make it to the altar, Micah and Paul did. When she was asked for her choice, she asked Paul to go first, and he said no.
Variety spoke with Kinetic CEO and “Love Is Blind” creator Chris Coelen to break down the ups and downs...

35 years since its release on March 30, 1988, what continues to stand out the most about Tim Burton's macabre and quirky film is its soundtrack — both the score by Danny Elfman and the inclusion of Harry Belafonte musical numbers. The eccentric mix of these sounds creates the ideal stage for Betelgeuse himself: the ghost with the most that teams up with the recently deceased Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) to haunt the pretentious, urbane Deetz family that moves into their New England-style home.
"Beetlejuice" was Tim Burton's first major feature after his breakthrough Pee-wee's Big Adventure. For the zany family film, Burton also collaborated with composer Danny Elfman, establishing a long-term creative partnership. But the "Beetlejuice" soundtrack that we all know and love almost never was.
The original screenplay by novelist Michael McDowell was decidedly grimmer, featuring a much darker alternate ending where Lydia sets herself on...

The fourth season of Love is Blind might have begun with a total of 30 cast members. But they were whittled down quickly to just 11 core people, 10 of whom got engaged as part of the five main couples. As with every season that came before it, season 4 has its share of likable people (like Cameron and Lauren from season 1) and unlikable ones, like Shake from season 2.
