Production footage illustrates just how much of James Whale's "stern host" routine is an act, and how he encourages guests to misbehave so he can admonish them.
Audio-only footage from the first commercial break has him jokingly offer the producer a vibrator, then say to concealed bedded couple Tony Duffield and Wendy-Ann Paige: "If you make some noise in the bed, then I can te-" before being cut off by a crew member. When the show returns from the adverts, James tells the couple to quieten down.
