Father and son with their dog Straw, embark on a camping trip. Things start to escalate dangerously when they meet some creepy and interesting neighbors.

Beautiful and gripping, Mother Nature is an interesting fusion of horror and gender studies, that left me with chills. The acting is consistently solid, with highlights from Karina Deyko, Shawn Belyea, and Philip Roebuck's ending scene with Petra Write. This film is a testament to the fact that low budget is never synonymous with low quality. Put this all together and add skillful directing, and seductively haunting cinematography, I can guarantee this is a horror film you have never seen before.

    Give this one a chance.

You won't be sorry you did.

Low budget I assume . . . does not "look" low budget

This movie was an unexpected treat and those tend to be the best movie experiences for me, I guess because I watch SO many crappy movies.

I don't know any of the folks involved with this movie, but I love good indie film work, so I decided to spend some of my Thursday evening writing this review. Big budget movies should be good and look good, so there is no surprise factor there, but finding a low budget movie that does not "look" or "entertain" on a low budget level is nice.

The basics: A guy takes his son on a camping trip an unluckily encounters some of the most creepy people in the woods you will ever meet this side of the movie Deliverance. I know what your thinking (So what? Seen this one before) but not really, this movie is pretty quirky in a good way, kept me interested and I watch a lot of films in this genre.

I hate long reviews so let me give you the bottom line: The directing and acting are excellent (Phillip Roebuck really looks like Michael Keaton to me and was solid) and the photography is beautiful. You could do worse on slow night at home. Compared to some of the junk I watch, this was like cold watermelon on a hot day. 6/10 Cheers

    Challenge to the very core...

Johan Liedren's film presents itself within the frame work of a horror film. An unnamed father attempts to secure some alone time with his son. The plan is camping, but surrounding factors soon alter the father's plans.

"Mother Nature" is a surrealistic journey that pushes a man to the very core of identity. That core is surprising and primordial. Often surreal and always visceral-- this film offers more than a few unexpected turns.

Trevor Fife's cinematography and Ben Lukas Boysen's musical score are utilized to craft an intense film experience. Phillip Roebuck's performance as "Father" is brilliant. Nothing about this film signals low budget. It is an unforgettable cinematic work.
