Mel Gibson Goes Back to School

1 review
7/10

Mell Gibson stands up.

To be used as a study guide.

Mell Gibson stands up at a podium in a class room of some high school but no school(s) name(s) is/are given, and discusses Hamlet. The scene of the prestation moves from one class to another. He gives his interpretation of what Hamlet is thinking and doing. We get clips from his movie on the subject. The clips are shown on an old-fashioned analog T. V. This is a pretty good synopsis of the story.

We get a quote from a book by A. C. Bradley (26 March 1851 - 2 September 1935). This is Bradley's description of the character hamlet.

Oh, no he has the kids play out some scenes. Then back to the T. V we see Old Hamlet without his beaver.

Some of the speeches in his movie may be out of place but that is because you can not cut out the best siliques when you cut the play down.

He does not take the time to mention that the movie pared down the play from four hours to a little over two hrs. So, the whole story about Old Hamlet pilfering Denmark from Old Fortinbras and young Fortinbras (The Prince of Norway) has to recapture Denmark from Claudius is missing.

In the process of describing, the play, Mell Gibson verges on an MST3K skit.
