    A very strong debut episode.

Lorna Brady wakes up after a bout of sleepwalking to discover a dead woman in her home, that discovery coincides with the discovery of a priest who was murdered that same evening.

I have to be honest, I saw a trailer, and what I was expecting to see was a story about The Magdalene sisters, and although that theme does play a huge part, it's pretty much a mystery from what I can see.

I had a few issues initially trying to work out exactly when it was set, but it does become apparent pretty soon, although it does look back a fair bit.

Incredible performance from Ruth Wilson as you'd expect, no concern for looking glamorous all the time, this is another powerhouse performance from the star, her accent was so good.

    8/10.

A harrowing episode about a real life story I hadn't even heard of...

I gave this first episode a watch as I loved Ruth Wilson in both Luther and HDM. As a man born in the 90's I was shocked at how recent the real life events of this show were and that I had never heard about them. Half way through the episode I had to pause and look into the real life events. What happend to these women is beyond cruel and I am thankful to this show for shining a light on the tragic things they went through.

Ruth Wilson brings her darker tones to the show that, at times, can be quite comedic. That creates a contrast which feels a little off sometimes with how brutal the tale behind the show is but isn't exactly tasteless as the comdey aspect revolves around how "off the map" the town is.

Never the less I found this episode to be a good watch πŸ‘
