Not the best twist

It feels like the writers were desperate to find a way to bring things home and tie threads together. Unfortunately they created a mess, basically throwing plotlines into a pile and blending them. It feels like a letdown and intelligence insult. It was up to now a cool, classic noir style detective series in a modern setting, but now turned more into a Marvel series (Skrulls anyone?). I wonder if this was the end plan all along or if things changed along the way. The tone and feel is so different in this episode as if they changed writers and director, like the latest Star Wars sequels if anyone remebers them.
