The room that Wendell acquired at the end of this course sheltered him from the cold until the end of the winter but he ended up back in the wilderness. On 12 September, 2012, Erin MacArthur from St Vincent de Paul set him up with independent crisis accommodation until a more permanent housing arrangement can be found.
Shortly after the completion of this course, the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme from the Department of Education that was going to assist Wendell to launch open source education and entertainment retracted their offer. They advised him that his systems challenge the ones employed in which they support and as a result would not be able to back his project. When the people open source a good ideal, the government loses control of its development and they refused to invest in systems that would ultimately remove them from the equation. The government yet again attempts to push Wendell back into the employment framework that they understand to be appropriate for all types of people.
