Rule Breakers is a true story told in a very engaging and heartfelt manner. The story focuses on a group of Afghani women and girls (and their families) as they challenge the attitudes, traditions, and culture that surround them by learning to write code, make robots, and compete as a team in prestigious, international competitions. The film does an excellent job of developing the characters of the team members and the woman, Roya Mahboob, who was visionary behind the team. While are some suspenseful moments, as you might expect with a bunch of rule breakers, the film chooses not to dwell on these incidents. Rather, it deftly focuses on how the team defied expectations, overcame serious technical challenges, managed needless bureaucratic delays, won over the international media, and won hearts and minds among their competition. In addition to presenting an engaging story with top-notch production values, the performances from the entire cast are superb. I was deeply moved by this film and am already look forward to seeing it again!
I was struck by the perseverance of the Roya Mahboob character to bring education and technology these Afghani girls who live in a culture where women's opportunities are severely limited by the Taliban. The actors portraying the girls did an amazing job of making me feel the emotions the characters were expressing, particularly a bright hope that they could accomplish what many, if not most men, in their society believed was impossible. On a completely separate note, knowing that the United States has now abandoned Afghanistan conditions will likely be even worse for girls there. This is important story about freedom, especially for women. I sincerely hope that feminists support this movie.
This is the very inspiring story of an Afghan woman who faced unbelievable obstacles. In a war-torn country that devalues women, she showed the world that determination and chutzpah can work miracles.
The acting was incredible and the story flowed well. I was immediately pulled into her world. I celebrated each small triumph with her, and cried alongside her with each setback. I was reluctant to see the end of the film. I wanted more of the story!
The scenery is gorgeous. I particularly enjoyed seeing the sites along the way. I would have liked seeing more of the p places she went.
Overall, this is a strong story, and one I will not soon forget.

This movie brings understanding to the world of what even in this modern age how women in beautiful Afghanistan are kept from personal success and their happiness is denied by male role. The casting is excellent, and the world competitions are brilliantly covered. I loved seeing the robotics competitions, and all the nations coming together to participate and support each other united in the love of robotics. The quality of the film is very good, the acting is honest and real, emotionally relevant and the subject is so important. This is a story that needed to be shared, such a wonderful film.
A good movie about an inspiring true story. The oppression, challenges and attacks from the Taliban that were endured and overcome by this Afghanistan girls robotics team is inspiring. This brought to life the difficult reality of life in counties like Afghanistan which we see in only snippets on the news. It's amazing that in this day and age women continue to be marginalized by cowardice sects. The fact that they received the major award so recently in 2021 while still being oppressed makes this movie timely. Very good acting and overall production. This is another Angel Studios movie amplifying light in the world!
