Splash Area (2012)

Trivia

Splash Area

Edit
Splash Area won the awards for Jury's Choice' and Best SFX at the 2012 Freak Show Horror Film Festival in Orlando, stealing it from Hollywood feature Spiders 3D which was made for almost 2 million. Splash Area was made for just £500.
Director George Clarke was dead set on everyone doing their own stunts and making situations real - like the chainsaw scenes for example which resulted in Ruby cutting her knuckles up as she stabbed at the clown. Saying that, there were no major injuries at all during production.
Splash Area was first written in 2008 and intended to be YFP's second movie. In fact, with director George Clarke playing the character of Mike (the Mummy), a weeks worth of footage was shot until he realized it wasn't going to work. George wrote The Knackery instead and production began the next day.
During auditions, the younger cast impressed George Clarke so much that he altered the script to suit younger characters and make 2 of the main roles for the girls. This was all their first times on screen.
A night was spent in a freezing cold February with actress and production manager Vivian Jamison tied to the front of a very small car, with the clowns driving her around Stormont grounds and the heroes following on scooters. It didn't all go to plan, so director George Clarke opted to put her in a wheelbarrow instead.
