Returning home

I wonder if the story in After the Rain was inspired by real events-it certainly feels like a possibility. If so, I'd love to learn more about the personal experiences that may have influenced it. Having lived abroad for a long time and planning to revisit my childhood home and friends soon, I wouldn't be surprised if I experienced something similar myself.

The animation style in this short film is common in many Asian animated works, but combined with its color palette, it strongly evokes My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli. In fact, some of the rain scenes felt like direct nods to Totoro. A very calm, yet thought-provoking short film.
