It's not great as claimed
You enjoy the movie there is no doubt about but it doesn't satisfy / conclude
Could have been best for short movie or comedy web series.
--------------- Good ---------------- Story telling
One liner dailogues
Comedy
Music
Acting
Screenplay
------------- Bad ------------- Some what's feels dragged out to much
no plot
No end goal / message. (May end goal- director wanted prove its worst movie ever made as claimed on trailer / posters )
None of the guest appearance charcters make impact to story / movie it jus feels like they wanted to be part of it.
Above is only my view.

After an offbeat start, the first half of Hostel Hudugaru is absolutely hilarious. The character of Genie is genuinely one of the funniest characters I have seen, and the 'boys' dynamic is brilliant, with several gut busting lines that are delivered so well.
The interval twist is unexpected, but after the interval is where the film takes a dip in quality.
Whereas in the first half the meta comedy of the cameraman worked really well, in the second half they show the editor making comments which takes you out of the film's world. Furthermore, there are unnecessary shots of random woman dispersed throughout as that is what the 'editor' thinks will hook the audience. It detracts from the momentum after a very funny joke or a shocking moment.
However, the bad second half has a decent conclusion.
I rate this 5.5, rounded to 6, purely because the first half was absolutely brilliant.
(Furthermore, the camera style is great, and suits the film really well.)

If I was Ramya, I too would have filed a case against the team!
The only good things about the cinema are the cinematography, editing and performances. Everything else is a minus, which includes, story, screenplay, music, sense, cameo by renowned actors and the list goes on.
The director should be applauded for his amazing marketing ability than the story-telling ability. He understands that today's youthiyaas are chutiyaas, who buy everything that is packaged well.
Good promos, self-trolling, superstars' engagement, liqour, weed are enough to bring a set of irresponsible people to theatres. Objectifying women (Ramya is made the brand ambassador for this), making weed and alcohol usage look cool among college going boys are frustrating to watch with families.
I am not even kidding when I say that at least 7,8 guys (not uncles.. guys) left during interval and didn't return.
Last week, the team's gimmick was "Mass bunk day" campaign. Slowly, students will start "make weed legal" campaign too.
It's sad that such horrible cinemas are being called the trend setters. If this is the trend that one wants to set, good luck with the new "Udta Karnataka!".

Positive aspects of the film is Cinematography, background score and editing... everything else is rubbish!
Songs, screenplay and story is very week, we can't get connected to the charecters, after 1st half we can clearly notice the shortage of ideas with the director.
Usually before going to the cinemas, I read the reviews and watch YouTube videos. Many people were like lauding this film, so I went to theatre along with my friends. Most of the people even my friends walked out of theatre before intermission itself.
It's only a one time watch in the weekend not to expect much from this film.

"The worst film ever in the history of Kannada cinema", says Appu and audience stormed the theaters.
Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare is a film about filming a 5mins short film over one night, as the amateur hostel boys find themselves in situations they never prepared for. The short film's core plot is about hostel warden's suicide, alleging the hostelites and focuses on them disposing the body to clear their names. What follows is mad cap entertainment which relies too much on the characters being extremely talkative while aided by actually well written characters and acts that are straight up hilarious.
This is what one calls style over substance, infact there is barely any substance and kudos to the newbie team to turn it into their strength. The lack of structured narrative, takes time to register. Infact for me the entire first half barring the initial scenes was bland and mostly saved by 3 characters who play the seniors. The humor there is genuine and the film truly comes alive during the interval reveal. The film's unique style succeeds in keeping one hooked to the proceedings.
It is the second half where it goes berserk. For all those times, the narrative dips, it is made up for with the commitment to stick to dark humor. Sadly, none of the cameos don't work at all. While, Rishab Shetty, Pawan Kumar cameos were painful to watch as it barely contributed anything than create slight confusion. Diganth's cameo was somewhat fine though again wasted. Ramya's footage throughout the second half with Diganth's character explaining why wasn't as hilarious as they intended it to be.
But again, the efforts have to be lauded. There is an abrupt end and a sequel's tease but more importantly there is Appu too. I have to admit, this film is an acquired taste, definitely not something I would immediately revisit. Yet, I wouldn't mind a standalone film featuring the three seniors, which again can make up for a craziest stoner film.
