The official entry of Algeria to the Best Foreign Language Film of the 85th Academy Awards 2013.
The Algerian revolutionary Ahmed Zabana was very influenced by the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, and it's known that Zabana watched his film Viva Zapata! (1952) many times when it was released in 1952 and 1953 before the start of the Algerian revolution in 1954. The Title Zabana! was an homage to his favorite movie. even the names of both The Mexican and Algerian freedom fighters are similar.
