It's a light comedy, with some hints of horror. Loved it. Went with my bf and my mom. I really needed a good laugh and this movie helped with that.
I thought it was funny, and intelligent. The vegetarian metafor was on point, and it speaks volumes about the dychotomy in today's society, about intolerance and rage about someone having different ways of living.
It"s a must watch if you love Itati Cantoral's villains. She gave a heck of a performance on this one. Lol It captures modern times' preoccupation with accepting differences, and it has a lovely message about dealing with mental illness.

This movie makes you want to pee in your pants. At times it is really absurd and at others, really emotional, but what I thought was most striking, was the take on extremism. The MIL is extremely vegetarian, to the point of accusing people who eat meat to be murderers, bad people. The daughter in law, Clara, tries her best to hide most aspects of her life, including the fact that she eats meat, in order to accomodate her. At the end, Clara realizes that she shouldn't try to hide who she is in order to be liked, even if the person in front of you is the mother of your bf. It's a nice film with a message that resonates a lot with cancel culture, and what the extremist views of some people cause on others.

If you like comedy, this one is surely a gem. While it's divisive, and some people don't like it, I think it's because not everyone enjoys parody and irony. The story centers around a mother-in-law, Regina, and her daughter-in-law, Clara, and they hate each other. In a way they look like opposites, but they truly aren't. The two women share their love for Patricio, and are both really controlling in their own ways. Throughout the film we see both find the good in each other, and they learn to accept the fact that they see the world very differently. I felt identified and really happy when Clara's character finally faces the mom, and tells her that she shouldn't hide her true nature because of someone who discriminates against her. I thought it was a really fun film, there were some wacko moments I really enjoyed, some slapstick humor, and some truly ironic bits. The combo is a 10/10 for me.
The directing? Awful. The screenwriting? Even more awful. It does not help that the principal character speaks like a mr beast dub, the main relationship is toxic as hell, and the own movie is confused as to what it is, is it comedy? Is it satire of other movies of the style?
And just don't take my word for it, several people left the screening at different points.
I generally try to look at the positive things over the bad things but seriously there was not even something good in this movie (maybe except the character of pilar and the performance by Itati Cantoral)
I was physically aching by the end.
Watch at your own risk.

I liked this film. It is a dark comedy. Went with my mother-in-law and had an amazing time. 100% recommend. The movie's main character battles with OCD and she leads a really normal life until she meets her boyfriend's crazy family. I loved it.
I have OCD and I really enjoyed how they chose to portray the character, because she was not the butt of the joke, but a person with a life, a boyfriend and a good job. I think it's important that movies portray characters that lead good lives, while dealing with mental illness.
The message in the end, is very positive, and I thought it was emotional.
100% recommend.
