Faith is a series that makes you think
Faith is a series that makes you think. Many different, interesting characters. They are looking for their Faith. Someone finds, like the General and the Heavenly Doctor, someone loses - like the brother of the empress. Many wise thoughts, beautiful fight scenes. Talented cast.
Baffling fantasy tale about the history and foundations of Korea
An exciting and action filled tale told in an exaggerated way with beautiful visuals - cinematography, costumes, lighting, locations and very nice looking young actors. And while I mostly enjoyed it, my enjoyment level was not at a high watermark. There are so many baffling things about the production it was difficult to just sit back and watch it comfortably. Instead, it left me - the viewer - confused every thirty minutes. (Please keep reading my review. But I also recommend reading the review written by ellen-11573 on July 16, 2025. Titled 'Great Idea, mediocre execution' for another viewpoint).
One expects to have questions from the beginning, but once 3 or 4 episodes have gone by, the person watching should relax and let the story unfold. Frankly this was an annoying drama to watch. First, the female protagonist was written to get on your last nerve from episode 1 all the way to the end of episode 24. And yet I stick with the drama ever hopeful she would improve in further episodes. And she did, but only slightly. Second, the King's personality was just as frustrating.
The ultimate draw for this epic story is the General; a stoic brave man who hasn't lived from the heart in years. Visually, his story is what holds this entire world together. Lee Min Ho, plays general Choi Young (referred to as "that person") who enters a portal in search of a doctor and unwittingly chooses a plastic surgeon he feels drawn to as the correct choice. This kidnapping sets the story in motion. Very interesting and potentially engaging. However for English viewers, the subtitles are literal so the meaning of what's happening often goes astray. Grammar, tense and many cultural indicators are so vague, that much of the meaning in conversations is completely lost. But understanding Korean will allow you to comprehend more of the story and fine details. Hence my one word evaluation of "baffling".
Still, with so much effort put forth by the actors playing the General, endless villains (Prince of the Court, the Kings Uncle, the superpower duo, Yuan Envoy etc.) you may still want to give this a try for its mix of fantasy, history, superheroes, intrigue and two sweet romances.

Awesome!!
This is a drama in which the writer has deftly used the history, mythology, and Korean legends along with a bit of fantasy to weave a beautiful and powerful story.
A Tale of Love across Time: The love story of Choi Young and Eun Soo is sure to tug the viewers' heartstrings. This love across centuries, love defying time, will be a hit among romantics. From making her learn the way of their world to protecting her from innumerable death traps, Choi Young is falling for Eun Soo, even though he knows he has to keep his promise to her, to help her return to her world. And Eun Soo changes her perspective from seeing him as her kidnapper to the only one she can trust in the unknown world of past, and to be with him becomes a habit she's reluctant to change. The gradual falling in love is beautifully portrayed in this period drama, while the question 'will she return?' refuses to cease anyone's mind.

That world has many patients with your illness
A plastic surgeon from modern Korea Yoo Eun-soo played by Kim Hee-Seon is kidnapped by Choi Young played by Lee Min-Ho and taken back 700 years through a time portal. Min-Ho is a fearless general and the reason he kidnaps her is to save the queens life as she has been injured by a sword blade. She then ends up being pressured into staying in that time period and many factions within the royal court try to get her to side with them as she is thought to come from heaven and given the name heavens doctor. It is a well acted series with a good premise and there is plenty of action and romance. It has probably a bit too much history and could have definitely been shorter but my main frustration with the show were the Villains. They all had special powers but they could also murder at will with no consequences until the final few episodes.
A little dragged but makes it worth while
Loved Choi young and Eun ho....the love shown and the acting par excellence done by lee min ho and the actress was a treat to the eyes...a little dragged in some episodes but loved watching every bit of it the love intensity emotions shown are soooo heart warming between the leads and silent yet intense love../the way they have shown how they have become each other's weakness and leee min ho I can keep going on and on...the side characters did their part well too...the costumes the back ground score to top it all with less dialogues lee min h's expressions could speak his anger, love, concern everything....
Did you know
- TriviaJoon-gi Lee was originally supposed to play the lead role but had to drop because of his mandatory military service.
- GoofsModern Korean uses "Borrow Words" (especially English) to such an extent that the average South Korean can't get through the day without using them. While this series does a good job making fun of modern v.s. Goryeo concepts, the Goryeo characters keep using borrow words from modern English.
