I was very disappointed with this documentary. It's unfortunate because the relationship between secularism and theism is a very interesting and a worthwhile topic to explore regardless of religious affiliation, but despite the production value of this documentary it is very sloppily made.

If you decide to watch this, CHECK EVERY CITATION FOR YOURSELF. Dennis often cites academic articles but then the actual contents of the article contradicts his point. For example, he says at one point that religious people are happier than non-religious people, and then claims that it it is illogical to remain secular because you'll be less happy. But if you actually look inside the article he mentions it says that the difference is only 4%! Despite him saying that this article proves that being religious makes you happier, the actual article itself EXPLICITLY SAYS IN THE TEXT ITSELF that this conclusion is not backed by their approach - and that there are other possible explanations for the 4% difference, such as more likely to have access to a strong community.

I would like to chalk this kind of thing up to just Dennis's team not being very careful, but it happens SO often that it really does appear that he is intentionally trying to fool his audience. I would recommend that you not waste your time.
