After the Party

An amazing series. Possibly the best I have watched in years.

Brilliantly acted and is and absolutely gripping throughout. The lead actress is outstanding (she seemed like a New Zealand version of Frances McDormand)

The series deals with the complex issue of sexual abuse in a sensitive manner, and provides insight into the devastating impact upon victims and all those affected. It is illustrates that reporting sexual abuse is never straightforward.

I can't believe some viewers found the series to be slow and boring (and I can't imagine what more they possibly could want out of a series like this).

Ah I don't know how I missed this Show, this answered many questions, declared confusions, pointed and focused on very complex human behaviors, and the perspective of two sides of the story the community and the family meaning.

More of this please. The kiwi actress was so amazing and well known the struggle of the character within the story, the acceptance, the survival mood, and her personal life and truth how was hard to keep both and fight for the right thing.

NZ has to have more of this essential and successful storyline for drama television.

I loved this so much!! Well done well done production!

I watched this over the course of two days and it held my interest. The cast was great, the story compelling and the location shooting was a nice change of pace for me as a Brit.

The story is a bit one note... in a sense that it's largely six episodes of one person saying someone did something, then another person saying they didn't. That's mixed with various other family stories, the aftermath of said party and other tribulations.

So it's no surprise that nothing really changes until the end when they begin to wrap stuff up for a conclusion.

Special mention goes to Robin Malcolm who was amazing and makes me want to see more of her work. She just very felt real. I also identified somewhat with some of her struggles when you feel alone and no one will listen.

Worth a watch, for sure. But could have probably done it in half the time with no real loss to the story. I'm not sure it warrants it, but I wouldn't object to a second season to see what happens next.

Wow what a mini series.

An incredibly uncomfortable view from start to finish due to its plot line and clever directing.. this is not an easy watch!! It could have easily gone to the extreme like more series with a similar story, but the direction it goes is so SO realistic that it's heart wrenching to view. The acting is phenomenal, you find yourself in the story. Robyn in particular is quite an extraordinary talent, she is a rare gift !

They could have easily of made this into a typical 12 episode series, but making it a short series of 6 hits the pace of the story perfectly. I highly recommend. It's a very rare 10 from me.

Robyn Malcolm plays her role exceptionally well In this necessary but depressing story. Is It is set in Wellington NZ and the cinematography was brilliant. New Zealand certainly are aiming to punch high and they are very successeful with this drama.

I binged watched over two days - only because it was such a potent, emotionally draining drama to view too quickly. It really kept me guessing until the last episode. And that was due in part to the perfect acting by Robyn Malcolm with me believing every part her character expressed. Having said that her co-star Peter Mullen played his role exceptionally well. Very difficult role to play considering the subject matter.

All actors were so amazing.

Give us more of this quality drama pleeeese New Zealand.
