Edith Dominates an Episode--But!
Sir Anthony Strallan is a good person
Downward Abbey
Matthew has become the dumbest character in the seeries, surpasing even Daisy.
The Edith story ... if the only moral is how garbage some families are , nothing else. Bipolar people one day saying one thing, the next another. Trying not to spoil this already spoiled seeries.
Thomas getting back after his past transgressions is also dumb. You have people being fired for less, but apparently the plot needs his drama so they keep him.
I seriosly hope season 4 or 5 come up with a good ending as season 1 was very good.
It's a shame really.
Sidenote: If Matthew would've inherited everything anyways, why the earl's suggestion of shared masters seemed like a favor? They forgot what they wrote?

- TriviaViolet says she is sorry they didn't go with Patou for Edith's wedding gown. Instead they went with Lucile as a safer choice. They are referring to Jean Patou and Lady Duff Gordon known as Lucile, both renowned designers at the time. Patou focused on sporty, modern looks, while Lucile was known for her elegant, more traditional Edwardian and Art Deco styles.
- GoofsIn later seasons Alfred professes a lifelong desire to be a chef. He even applies to the Ritz and gets accepted into their cooking school. Yet in this episode, he seems to hate gourmet food. After Edith is jilted at the alter, the staff gets to eat all the fancy food made for the wedding. Alfred not only makes fun of it, he refuses to eat and asks for some cheese instead. This makes no sense for someone with the lifelong desire to become a chef.
- Quotes
Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham: [commenting on Strallan's look of dread as he waits for Edith at the altar] He looks as though he's waiting for a beating from the headmaster.
Reverend Travis: Do you think I should reassure him?
Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham: How? He's done it before, so he must be in possession of all the facts.
Reverend Travis: Perhaps the first Lady Strallan was difficult act to follow.
Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham: ...or a difficult one to repeat.
