Good to see a movie that gives a motivational message to our youth.
It's a movie that I'm sure people can relate to in various ways from drugs, gangs, families, bad influences and most importantly religion and the role it plays. It was a movie that also had showcased morals and the importance of role models.
These topics in the movie may seem controversial but it's important for people to see these things and realise this is real.
Well done to the movie makers and actors.
Great to see movies like this being produced.
Thank you for the actors and producer for travelling to Australia and having a panel discussion to inspire the arts within the community.

"Purple Don't Cry" is a remarkable cinematic journey that follows a young Muslim and his battles in this world, it acknowledges the very REAL experiences of Muslims living in the west and how hard it can be to not follow the wrong path. This film takes us on an unforgettable exploration of the muslims capacity to overcome adversity and emerge stronger. The storyline is a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments and in the harshest circumstances, Iman, hope and determination can lead to incredible transformations. The exceptional performances by the cast, particularly the lead actors Boonna and Essam, bring authenticity and depth to their characters, making it easy to connect with their struggles and triumphs.
It is not often we see a movie for Muslims by Muslims and this one was exceptionally done. I wholeheartedly recommend this movie to anyone in need of inspiration and a powerful reminder of how short life can be.

Purple Don't Cry cleverly embodies the elements and expectations of a modern crime film without the use of profanity, music or any steamy content. I thoroughly enjoyed the film with my family and was fortunate to meet the friendly and passionate stars of the production at the premier in Sydney, NSW. My family and I were taken away by the creativity of the piece in portraying such a common and familiar narrative all of which being suitable we felt for a younger audience. As a father, I was grateful to share discussion with my children around the storyline and together we drew out many lessons that we believe should be taught to children as they ascend into the various circumstances that is life. The cast and acting was beyond expectation from a budget film and I believe that Purple & Bilal are two characters that we will collectively remember in the peaks and troughs of our own personal journeys. We highly recommend Purple Don't Cry. It is a must watch for all and especially for families with youth. We are looking forward to more creative pieces from this talented crew. Very well done!
The storyline is 10/10, touches on important issues that the youth face and the struggles one may have. I loved the dynamic Bilal and Abdullah have and the character development you see in Bilal, it provides hope for people out there who may be feeling like Bilal. Also the different inputs you get to see from characters like Jannah and Bilal's uncle is such a realistic way of showing how advice can impact you depending on who's giving it to you.
Overall, great film and hope to see more films like this in the future. Theres a lot of great stories in the Muslim communities that need to be heard.

Important messages for the Muslim youth captured in an engaging and relatable way. This film is a must watch for anyone in the muslim community. Good for the whole family, this film follows Bilal, a misguided young man who gets into trouble with the streets. He meets Purple, who is a sort of mentor but is also caught up in the world of drug dealing. I thought Purple's character was so interesting and complex - he is a walking contradiction. Bilal learns a lot through the duration of his journey and has to choose the life he wants to live. I liked the representation and authentic muslim voices echoed throughout this film.
