If you've ever attended a Mayberry festival, this will take you right there. Right into the heart of the people who love The Andy Griffith Show and everything it stands for.
Not remaking THE show. Only showing what it would be like if WE lived in a modern day Mayberry, living on the legacy of those who went before us.
Made by the fans for the fans, it is a labor of love. Don't expect the original show. Escape to a modern day Mayberry with the same sense of morality and community.
One of my favorite parts of this series (and the movie that preceded it) is that you will see these same people at almost any Mayberry festival you may attend!! (Especially Mayberry Days)

The only thing I am disappointed with is that the TAGS crew have almost all passed away before seeing this project. What makes that show so great is the sense of community, love for GOD and their neighbors, and good, clean, family comedy and storytelling. This movie and the series carries that same torch and unashamedly, winks at the fans the whole time. There are lots of Easter eggs throughout and the characters are very lovable. I really hope there is a second season because we really need some positive vibes, and Hollywood is NOT hooking us up. I really needed this in my life right now. Anybody that has been to Mayberry Days or any other TAGS festivals knows that the biggest take home is the friends you make when you leave. I don't have a lot, but I covet my friendships. The TAGS community is the real deal. I can never explain it, so I'll just refer you to this show and you can figure it out for yourself. I totally recommend this movie and series. Bravo!

Reminiscent of the original Mayberry escape from reality. Fun, family-friendly and filled with familiar lines based on scenes from The Andy Griffith Show that give us long time fans a good feeling inside. Politics is not the subject. The goal is for everyone to treat each other like the town-folk of Mayberry tried to do - in a friendly manner with brotherly love. It may be a little corny here and there, but I think Andy Griffith would approve.
The show is NOT trying to be The Andy Griffith Show. Mayberry is a state of mind.
The movie and the series far surpass anything else available these days for families to watch. We need more shows like this. It's good, clean fun and entertainment.

Even if you have never watched one single episode of The Andy Griffith Show, you would really like this show. Of course if you like that show then you would like this even better. But I suggest you first watch Mayberry Man: The Movie, which is free to stream on YouTube. Both are professionally made productions like you would see in the movies and on TV. It is a tribute to The Andy Griffith Show (not a remake or a sequel). Many of the characters have been real tribute artists at the annual Mayberry Festival at Mt. Airy every year. And that's where the plot starts. It's a love story with humor and lots of fun packed into 5 episodes. There is no footage from the original Andy Griffith Show, except for a remade courthouse, but there is a lot of different footage from California to Texas to a wonderful small town they call, Mayberry.
Awesome film by the Howell brothers, whose father was Hoke Howell a famous character actor who played Dud Wash in the original series. A great family film with recognizable characters and new ones as well.
!/3 of the movie was shot in Andy Griffiths home town, and a Mayberry vibe type town in Danville Indiana, the rest in LA, great scouting locations for sure. It was a well written story with all the elements an all movies, the hero, the pretty girl, protagonists, and the oddball characters. The main reason an Andy wasn't in it is b/c a suitable tribute artist at the time could not be found and instead of throwing someone who auditioned badly into it, it simply was rewritten.
Again it's not a remake, but a carrying on, of the Mayberry spirit which some reviewers could use on here. Wholesome 1960's vibe that we miss and the family values needed and a fun watch for the whole value. On it's own merit, it's worth the watch and may even introduce a new generation to the number one rerun TV show of all time, and why Stark and Cort Howell made it and with a passion, thanks Hoke for having two sons with a mission to keeping the Mayberry spirit alive, with a current and up to date movie and series.
P. S. The Series nor the movie has zero to do with Christian Nationalism as one sorry reviewer posed, he may have been talking about an actor but not the movie, the sad sack couldn't be clear and is clearly a saboteur. It is clear family comedy fun.
