The cinema location used in the film was originally written as an amusement arcade in earlier drafts of the script. Delays in the project, followed by a change in the location meant that the cinema was far more suitable.
The character of Milly was originally to be played by former Hollyoaks actress Zoe Lister before the film was delayed and recast.
Beneath a Neon Tide is the fourth occasion that director Simon P. Edwards has collaborated with lead actor Tom Grace after previously working together on Smiley (2010), Drive-by Sunset (2011) and Home (2012).
