The film in its entirety was made with a large crew of just one person, Amel Tresnjic. He researched, wrote, directed, filmed, sound-recorded, edited, animated and produced the film entirely on his own.

The poster image of a person walking out of the darkness and into the light, is an actual photograph taken by the director, Amel Tresnjic, in Egypt. The photo was taken from within one of the Giza pyramids in Cairo, as one tourist was on his way back up and out of the pyramid. It was then and there the director decided to use the snapshot for the poster of his documentary film '2012 Crossing Over: A New Beginning.' The image represents the 'cross over' from the dark age into the bronze age as well as humanity approaching enlightenment. Furthermore it represents that ancient wisdom is coming into the light as humanity remembers and rediscovers the true meaning of their history and place in nature.
