The film was shot on location in Romania during the winter, where temperatures lingered around -15° Fahrenheit.
In the original Fright Night, the 'Gerri Dandridge' character was a male vampire named Jerry Dandridge. The original Fright Night Part II featured Jerry's sister Regine Dandridge as the villain. Hence, both versions of Fright Night were followed by a sequel where the male vampire is replaced with a female vampire.
Although marketed as a sequel to Fright Night, it actually is not. It is a re-telling or the original Fright Night story with a female vampire as "Gerri," instead of the original male vampire Jerry. It is essentially the British remake of the original American version of the film.
Despite having a "2" in the title this is not a sequel, but rather yet another remake of the original Fright Night, whilst taking some elements from the original Fright Night 2. Charlie makes no mention of having previously killed a vampire named Jerry as he now hunts a vampire named Gerri. Characters need to be convinced again that vampires are real, having no memory of encountering them previously. Peter Vincent is no longer a paranormal stage magician, but rather a paranormal reality show host and again has no memory of having previously met Charlie or that vampires are real.
Once he was in makeup, Chris Waller was so into his part that director Eduardo Rodriguez had to keep reminding him that he wasn't really a vampire.
