Exactly what it's supposed to be
Honestly, I found the movie really enjoyable and funny. It's obviously dumb and there are many plot holes if you look for them, but that's not the point.
It's exactly what it's supposed to be. A fun goofy comedy where you can turn your brain off and get some laughs. Brings you back to the early 2000's comedies. We need more movies like this. Hopefully this movie makes enough to warrant working on another one, as well as motivating other comedians to give something like this a shot.
Considering this was Stavros' first go at it, I'm excited to see what he comes up with next!(: I'll definitely be there to support.

A great watch while high
This movie hilariously explores the ways in which people end up in a cult. I love the way we explore each cult member's background which are all uniquely quirky and interesting. These multifaceted characters almost had you rooting for cult members at times or laughing at how naive they are. The cinematography is very stylistically interesting and the writing is smartly funny. We buckled over laughing at the plot choices at times, staying on the edge of our seat excited to hear what's next. I could totally see this becoming a cult classic in the future as more people discover it. A great watch while high.
Where was the funny stuff...?
Without knowing what I was in for here, aside from "Let's Start a Cult" being a comedy, then I opted to watch the movie, as I had the chance here in 2025.
Writers Wes Haney, Ben Kitnick and Stavros Halkias put together a comedy script that didn't really cater to my particular preference of comedy. I wasn't brought to laughter a single time throughout the course of the 89 minutes that the movie ran for.
Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with Ethan Suplee. The acting performances in the movie were fair.
I found "Let's Start a Cult" to be a swing and a miss, and not funny at all. I am sure that there is an audience out there who will find this funny, I just happened not to. And thus, I was not particularly entertained by the movie. Needless to say that it is not a movie that will return to my screen a second time.
My rating of director Ben Kitnick's 2024 movie "Let's Start a Cult" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

Stavvies big adventure
Big fan of Stav's famous podcast, Crumbtown, where Madam is a gay bug, Brick is a Chinese man with a small benis, and Stav is the fattest man in the world. I'm watching the movie now and there are a ton of laughs. The laughs represent the approximate weight of Stavros.
The jokes are funny. Some of the scenes are absolutely looney. The writing ... Tells a story. The acting... Is done. Stav isn't the best actor, but he's one of the best in this movie. Some of the cameos or supporting roles were a very nice surprise. Ethan Supplee, for example, could be arguably the Stavros prototype. If Stav was born 10 or 15 years earlier, he might have also kickstarted a respectable acting/comedy career with Jay and Silent Bob.
It was a funny movie that I'd love to watch again.

Refreshing Comedy In A Comedy Desert
Comedy movies are in a sad state and Let's Start A Cult is a breath of fresh air. It's not at the level of a lot of great comedies but Stavy carries this film and 90% of it is quite good. There are a few scenes where the acting is pretty questionable and a few pieces of the story could have been fleshed out a bit better but overall it really highlights the strength of Stavros as an actor and his ability to carry with his personality. There are very few movies I'd just throw on and rewatch after seeing them and this is one of them. I'd love to see more from this group and hope it made enough money to justify it.
