"oola" film like the name of one of the characters. Very bad film making. There is nothing good about this movie especially with such a star cast. Over acting by everyone - guess they were made to. Court scenes very similar to the ones in the recent movies. Looks like they were "inspired" by lot of movies. Waste of time, money and effort.

The movie falls somewhere between good and bad. It has noticeable direction flaws and even experienced actors deliver subpar performances. The script lacks originality, and when compared to "Mukundan Unni Associates," it falls short in greatness.
Nevertheless, it's a decent watch. In the last few minutes, Vineeth Sreenivasan nailed the entire show with his humorous mannerisms, and Sreenivasan, known for his witty dialogues, makes a commendable return to Malayalam cinema. It's heartwarming to see father and son sharing the screen.
All in all, it's not a terrible choice for a movie night. Keep your expectations in check and enjoy it as a time-killer.

Directed by Jayalal Divakaran. One time time pass movie. Silly comedy dialogues scenes for all actors. There is death of an instagram influencer, and Vineeth Seeenivasan who is a police officer is investigating it. He fixates on Shine Chacko as the murderer, and creates a story and fake witnesses to make him the culprit. Shine being tech savvy defends his own case. Oo antava vava by Vineeth Sreenivasan, and all his comical scenes, is hilarious. He did really well. Sreenivasan is the usual fake witness for the police: He gets his dues as well at the end. Overall fun for a one time watch. And great to see Vineeth Sreenivasan being comfortable in any role.
Movie with a fresh concept and storyline. However, the script, direction, and editing are mediocre. The movie is saved from being a disaster by the good performances of Sreenivasan, Vineet Sreenivasan, and the actor playing the judge.
The script is full of clichés and the dialogue is often stilted. The direction is uninspired and the editing is sloppy. Direction these days is not just shooting what is in script by placing camera to actors. As a result, the movie feels slow and boring at times.
Overall, Kurukkan is a disappointing movie with a few bright spots. Can be watched once if you have free time.

Even though this movie received brickbats from around the corner, I gave it a go since veteran actor Sreenivasan and his famous actor-director son Vineeth Sreenivasan joined hands for a full length role.
It tells the story of a police officer who is a laughing stock due to his foolish antics. He frames a guy for a murder of social media celebrity because of his inability to find the real culprit. This comedic murder investigation takes a hilarious turn as when the suspense is revealed.
The idea of making a comedy investigation movie is great, as Indian cinema in general hasn't explored that genre much. The movie starts on the right note with the central lead being a laughing stock for his buffoonery as he investigates the case, but slowly it just gets too silly to believe. Even the scenes in court are mere mockery, and the same goes for everything else, which makes it hard for viewers to take anything seriously. It definitely is a good opportunity lost, where you start to cringe after a point.
Vineeth Sreenivasan adapts to the role with perfection, and such characters suit him. Sreenivasan is decent, and it's always charming to watch yesteryear actors. Shine Tom Chacko is in his usual element, and Malavika Menon is fine in her limited screen time. The romantic track between them comes across as a sore thumb, and featuring them in a romantic song just adds to the runtime, which could have been easily avoided.
A movie like this needs the comedy angles to be strong enough to make you laugh until your stomach aches. Sadly, nothing of that sort happens here, and you only get a few chuckles in a few scenes. Director Jaylal Divakaran's drama is a below-average film that could be watched when you don't have much else to watch.
