Zombie Strain

A different zombie movie to be sure...

The sounds that the zombies made were laughable. Why would deceased people start growling like a wild cat?

Writer Gregory M. Schroeder put together a unique storyline, to be sure. I found it to be adequately entertaining, but I was lacking an exciting ingredient in the recipe, because the movie sort of went ahead on a flat and monotonous pacing, without any real ups and downs in terms of thrills and excitement. Don't get me wrong here, because I am not saying that "Zombie Strain" is a bad movie, it just was missing that certain spark to it.

I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but the acting performances were actually good and helped keep the movie afloat. I was especially impressed with actor William Mann and actress Chandni Shah.

"Zombie Strain" is a watchable movie for sure, but it is sort of a niche movie. It is, however, not a movie that particularly warrants more than just a single viewing, though.

If you enjoy zombie movies and want something that definitely deviates from the standard formula of zombie movies, then perhaps "Zombie Strain" would be a movie for you.

My rating of director Michael Seabolt's 2023 movie "Zombie Strain" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Holiday Gore Galore

Zombie strain's humor is a mixture of raunchy and holiday gore galore... In this low-budget take of a zombie outbreak, the apocalypse serves as the backdrop to six people trapped in a sound stage, whose varying personalities push and bend the story in hilarious, questionable, surprising and even poignant outcomes.

The found-footage style really heightens the developing chemistry between characters and delivers something unique that doesn't shy away from classic body horror cheese.

As a fan of mockumentary style and character driven plots, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

So if you're looking for something creative with a good cast, a soul, dynamic plot and that doesn't take itself too seriously, please give it a watch!

A fun stoner zombie comedy!

I loved Zombie Strain! This is a wonderful example of a film that knows what it's doing. From a production standpoint, it stays in its lane and doesn't attempt to pull off anything too big. The chemistry between the cast was evident. The director had a clear vision and executed it wonderfully. You could tell the actors had fun with their roles based on their performances. I don't want to leave any spoilers in my review, but there was one bit in particular that I wasn't expecting that was really wild! The team behind this project must have had a blast with it. It was a fun indie film, and I really enjoyed the ride!

A fun zombie stoner comedy

First off, I will preface this by saying I am a filmmaker as well but have nothing to do with the production of this film. I met the director at the International Horror Hotel festival in Cleveland, Ohio and watched the film during the event.

Zombie Strain is a fun movie made on a very tight, small budget. As someone who has done the same in directing a film, I know how difficult it is get the final film toy want versus what can be afforded.

The director (Michael Seabolt) set out with a distinct vision of making an outrageous film and was succesful in doing so. From the talks I've had with him, Seabolt has a bright future as a director. It's not easy to solidify a vision and keep it consistent throughout the course of a feature length film.

The characters are fun and I was honestly rooting for their survival (or demise). The story is unpredictable and perfect to watch while "cough cough cough".. you know.. puff puff pass lol.

Great cast - more comedy than horror

Love Zoe! The cast was young and mostly unknowns but the onscreen chemistry was great. There are some LOL one-liners in the movie. Some parts seemed a little long. But, it was the first time I ever saw zombie penis; ) Definitely not for children. This film is geared toward a young adult audience - think Cheech and Chong for this generation. I was glad to see there were no nudity or sex scenes added just for the sake of some T&A.

The whole premise is a stoner comedy so if you are anti-pot or looking for an art-house or big blockbuster this is not your movie. If you want to see what a new director and young cast can pull-off this is your movie. Looking forward to more films from this group - hopefully with a bigger budget.

low budget fun - i enjoyed this watch

I started to watch this film last night on Apple TV with no expectations and fully expecting to turn it off after a short period of time, however, I was actually quite glued to watching this movie. I had no concept of the budget or idea of where it was going, but I was thoroughly entertaining the entire time and found the characters to be well executed and the development of the characters from the beginning to the end was fantastic. I think the writer and director of this film has done an exceptional job with the budget that was allowed for the making of this film and I think that he has great things to come in his future.

No this is not the most amazing zombie film I've ever seen and at times it did seem a little bit slow, but I think if you're with family, good friends or even on your own and you want to watch something fun, this is absolutely worth watching in the right environment. Stand mention to william mann who was funny as heck, at times showed emotion that was well played and did a great job. Also a stand out mention to emily ashby who played autumn, her character was a good mix of smarts and porn actress, Also, chandni shah, she did not start out strong but by the time she was high in the kitchen, she had me until the end, was a great character for the film.

Give this film a go, to the end for all the laughs.
