Chikao Ohtsuka's first role in a Lupin III anime in 28 years, and his final performance as Goemon Ishikawa XIII.
The final Lupin III anime to feature Eiko Masuyama, Goro Naya, and Makio Inoue as the voices of Fujiko, Zenigata, & Goemon respectively. All three of them retired their own roles after completion of this anime.

The anime omits a couple of moments from the manga chapter. It omits the part with Zenigata-as-Lupin playing with puppets of Lupin and Fujiko, because of the sex content. It also omits the part with Lupin admitting he built the gunpowder island to trap Zenigata on because unlike in the manga, Lupin and Zenigata have a sworn rule not to kill each other.
