The airplane registration prefix reads HB not N. HB is the call letters for Switzerland and N is the call letter for the USA.
Instead of trying to chop off the actual engine from the plane, they could just shutdown one engine and thereby halve the amount of fuel used. Chopping off the engine also would result in fluid losses and fuel leaks.
