Lauren Mayberry, frontwoman of Chvrches, has announced details of her debut solo album: Vicious Creature will arrive in full on December 6th via Island Records. She’s also shared a new preview of the LP in the form of “Crocodile Tears,” and announced dates for a 2025 North American tour.

“Crocodile Tears” builds out the vibe established with previously released single “Something In the Air,” where Mayberry embraces catharsis. There’s a cheeky side to this new track, though: “Maybe I’m a villain, but I find it kind of thrilling when you cry,” she admits over bright synths and an upbeat drum keeping time.

In a statement about the project, Mayberry called out “the dark, physical, and subversive sides of femininity” as key influences over Vicious Creature as a whole, citing musicals like Cabaret and Chicago. “Crocodile Tears” is now the fourth track listeners can enjoy ahead of the full project in December,...

2024 isn't even over yet, and we've already been hearing about a lot of new horror content set to be released in 2025. For example, Paramount Pictures will release its new horror film Vicious early next year, and you won't believe who's in the cast.

We first learned of this horror flick back in February 2024. At the time, it was reported that Paramount Pictures had boarded a new horror film titled Vicious and that Emmy nominee Dakota Fanning would be leading the cast. Bryan Bertino was also announced to be helming the film. Atlas Entertainment and Richard Suckle were signed on to produce with Melinda Whitaker as executive producer. The movie was also given a Aug. 8, 2025 theatrical release.

However, so much new information has come out about this film since then. For one, it will no longer be released in theaters in August 2025. Instead, its theatrical release has been pushed up to Feb.

The Naked Gun reboot has had its release date delayed. The original Naked Gun was a 1988 police procedural parody movie starring Leslie Nielsen as Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin that spawned two sequels in 1991 and 1994. The upcoming Naked Gun reboot, which was directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, will star Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. alongside an ensemble cast that includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, Cch Pounder, and Busta Rhymes.

Dakota Fanning is next teaming up with director Bryan Bertino (The Strangers, Dark and the Wicked) for the horror movie Vicious, which has received a new release date today.

Paramount Pictures will release Vicious on February 28, 2025.

The horror film had previously been set for August 8, 2025.

Paramount Pictures has announced a handful of new release dates for its upcoming films, including Edgar Wright’s remake of The Running Man starring Glen Powell. The much-anticipated flick will be released on November 21, 2025.

The studio has also pushed back the release of the Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson. The film was previously set for a July 18, 2025 release, but the film will now hit theaters on August 1, 2025. The new Smurfs animated musical movie directed by Chris Miller, which was previously scheduled for February 14, 2025, will take the date vacated by The Naked Gun. Additionally, Bryan Bertino’s Vicious, starring Dakota Fanning, has been bumped up, moving from August 8, 2025, to February 28, 2025.

Paramount is making some big shifts on its 2025 release calendar, the biggest title dated being Edgar Wright’s reboot of The Running Man starring Glen Powell. The pic is going the Friday before Thanksgiving next year, on November 21.

Running Man will race against Wicked: Part Two on that date as well as Angel Studios’ David and a Warner Bros event movie.

In regards to this year, Paramount also said Friday that its awards-season contender September 5 is now opening November 29 limited before getting a December 13 expansion. Previously, the pic that world premiered at the Venice and Telluride film festivals was set to go on November 27. The Tim Fehlbaum-directed movie starring Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin and Leonie Benesch depicts what happened with the ABC Sports TV control booth had to contend with a live act of terrorism during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Paramount made a series of slate changes on Friday, including setting the release of Edgar Wright’s adaptation of “The Running Man” starring Glen Powell for Nov. 21, 2025.

V.E. Schwab's dark superhero story, Vicious, would fit right in with anti-superhero series like The Boys and Invincible. The novel's dark exploration of masculinity and unchecked ambition would make for a compelling TV show or movie. Despite the popularity of alternative superhero shows, studios are overlooking the potential of adapting Vicious into a movie or TV series.

There are many fantasy books that deserve adaptations but aren't getting them but I'm particularly surprised my favorite V.E. Schwab story hasn't been adapted yet. Schwab is a well-known author in fantasy spaces, and their books have gotten a lot of attention on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. Several have even been picked up for movie and TV adaptations, including The Secret Life of Addie Larue and A Darker Shade of Magic. Sadly, these movies seem to be stuck in development hell, just like many other looming fantasy projects.

Paramount Pictures announced release dates Wednesday for a number of upcoming films. This includes director Akiva Schaffer’s new untitled installment in the Naked Gun comedy franchise hitting theaters July 18, 2025. The movie, first announced back in 2022, stars Liam Neeson and includes Seth MacFarlane as a producer.

The studio also announced that Paw Patrol 3 will launch July 31, 2026, as a follow-up to the studio’s September sequel Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie that topped $200 million globally. The new film hails from Spin Master Entertainment in association with Nickelodeon Movies. Another animation feature — director Jeff Rowe’s Tmnt 2 — is set for Oct. 9, 2026, as a follow-up to the filmmaker’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which came out last August and collected $180 million worldwide.

Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door – or "The Movie" outside Japan – is an underrated work of art only marred by a few narrative blemishes. The fact it doesn't appear in conversations about the series shouldn't be taken as a sign that the film was a disaster. While it doesn't hit the same emotional highs as the TV show's best episodes, the movie does deliver some of the best action scenes in animated history.

While it's easy to disregard the movie as a quick tie-in to bring in a few extra dollars out of the Cowboy Bebop anime, thinking it's sloppy or uninspired would be a disservice to both. The movie, created by staff from Sunrise, Bones, and Bandai Visual, is bursting with quality visuals. Its only weakness is a plot that lacks the same charisma and imagination that the original TV series had in spades.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has confirmed the cause of death of actress Lindsey Pearlman.

The news comes six months after the Empire star was found dead inside a vehicle near Runyon Canyon Park.

According to a report obtained by People, the coroner has ruled Pearlman's death as a suicide caused by sodium nitrite toxicity.

Pearlman went missing on February 13 and was last seen in Los Angeles around 9 p.m, according to reports.

The star is said to have swallowed enough pills after driving to the base of Runyon Canyon and was found days later by a hiker.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported the sad news of the star's passing in February.

"Today around 8:30 a.m., Hollywood Area officers responded to a radio call for a death investigation at Franklin Avenue and North Sierra Bonita Avenue," the LAPD said in the statement.

Pearlman first went missing on February 13 in the East Hollywood area, and now, six months later, her cause of death has been revealed.

On Monday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner officially ruled the actress’ death a suicide caused by sodium nitrite toxicity.

According to People, the coroner’s report cited “the presence of non-toxic levels of lorazepam, metoclopramide, and codeine” in Pearlman’s system.

“Pearlman failed to return home and has not been seen or heard from since,” police said in a statement at the time she disappeared. “Friends and family fear for her safety.”

BlackOps Studios Asia from the Philippines, Story Arch Pictures from the U.S. and Agog Film from Hong Kong have joined forces to develop, produce and finance a slate of genre movies that target the streaming marketplace.

The 16-title slate comprises nine films and seven series in the action, horror and sci-fi genres, with 11 flowing from BlackOps, two from Story Arch and three from Agog. The lineup is being unveiled this week at the European Film Market, the online companion to the in-person Berlin Film Festival.
