I stumbled upon the 2013 Japanese comedy TV movie "Cheap Flight!!" by random luck here in 2021, and of course I had to take the time to sit down and watch it. Sure, I hadn't even heard about this movie from writer
Shôgô Kashida, but as I hadn't already seen it, of course I sat down to do so.
And while "Cheap Flight!!" is watchable and has a feel-good-spirit to it, then it was hardly an outstanding movie. It certainly does put a smile on your lips, but it is hardly a movie that warrants more than just a single viewing. Nor is it a movie that requires the audience to do any thinking.
There is a lot of showcasing pretty ladies in "Cheap Flight!!", but at least director Satoru Nakajima does it with dignity and keeps the movie on track.
While this is listed as a comedy, it is not the type of comedy that spurs any particular great laughs. It managed to muster a couple of smiles from me here and there.
Director Satoru Nakajima's "Cheap Flight!!" movie came and went without even as much as a slight slipstream. And it is a movie that will quickly fade from memory once you've seen it.
My rating of "Cheap Flight!!" lands on a mediocre five out of ten stars.
