Excellent film

Amazing classic of Tamil Cinema. Sarathkumar in dual roles has truly carried the film. There is romance, revenge, suspense and comedy. K.S Ravikumar is an amazing underrated director and he has not failed us here. It is a beautifully shot drama. Nattamai (English: Village Chief) is a 1994 Tamil film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. It starred Sarath Kumar, Meena and Kushboo in the lead roles. The film became a blockbuster among 1994 Deepavali releases and completed a 175-day run at the box office. It is considered to be one of the most popular Tamil films of the 1990s and in general. The tagline Nattamai, theerpa maathi sollu became popular after release. It became a trendsetter for many big budget films in later years. The Goundamani-Senthil comic duo was one of the most popular aspects about the film.Sarath Kumar earned both the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Tamil for his performance in the film.

a cult classic for a reason

Watching it after 28 years of its release and still it is not boring, so many sequences that are still engaging enough especially the emotional drama part of the movie that still stands the test of time.

Though there are sequences that don't match with the current generation/culture/economy, it is still not absurd.

This is a classic for a reason and would stay like this even for the next 20-30 years to come.

Today's generation is making a series of films whereas this film showcased that all the content could be shown in just one single film and there's no need for a series and treat the audience like idiots.

This is probably KS Ravikumar's 2nd best after Padayppa, of course, even Muthu comes next and the same director is making films even today is huge.
