The version I saw was uncut (+30 minutes) and included many of the obvious things the TV wouldn't show such as the errors committed during Cazuza's
performance (which allowed some songs to be performed twice), some of his cursing and talks to audience or the director; and some excessive shots
(the cameraman loved filming actress Malu Mader in the audience). This was a Globo network special with Cazuza performing his greatest hits, alongside
guests Frejat, Sandra de Sá, Simone and Gal Costa, and the performance was not the typical concert with paying attendees but one filmed with a more
intimate audience invited by the network to be there, so you get to see plenty of famous faces in the audience.
It's an important register if we consider as one of Cazuza final concerts and it was during the promotion of "Ideologia" album, and those live
performances were ones that Cazuza personally felt as challenging and really interesting for him as a performer as he considered himself a little
careless during those acts; but after being directed by Ney Matogrosso he committed himself more with his act. But it's one of those bittersweet events
as we enjoy the music and his presence at the same time knowing he was dying and it's not much of a good sight to be seen. On the other hand, his
humor, his aggressiveness and the potent voice behind everything it's all there.
The set list was very comprehensive and pretty much what he covered in many concerts, all the known tracks are there and one or two songs make
up for new stuff or a new take on seeing things (I never paid much attention to "Eu Preciso Dizer que Te Amo" so when he sings some added lines that
don't appear on Marina Lima or Léo Jaime versions I thought it was strange). It's hard for me to really enjoy live performances as artists hardly ever
repeat the same feeling, tempo and rhythms from the albums, but with Cazuza I must say he made all the right choices and the majority of songs sounded
really good with his band - proof of that is the live album "O Tempo Não Pára" which is a masterful work capturing several of shows under Ney's direction).
The uncut version is almost like a rough version at times, with many image and sound problems, and as the actual live broadcast can't be found
I'll accept this extended version. It's funny at times with Cazuza yelling to director Roberto Talma ("You're getting me off the stage? Talma, you whore!"),
there's several ramblings and his "horny" feels when it comes to music and performances; and at times some mistakes were made, such as Frejat entering
at the wrong time during their duet in "Ideologia" (they had to make another take), or Cazuza forgetting the lyrics in one song. Yet despite the "problems"
it wasn't a bad show, he was authentic with audiences and himself, and it all felt enthusiastic and fun to watch despite some repetitions, a few silent
gaps in between (understandable as he kept repeating about this being a TV performance). And some of the awkwardness of it all makes it all more interesting
that the apparent perfect clean and polished TV act.
I liked the act and it gets this glowing analyzis as I never had the chance to see him live or anything similar. A fine register from Cazuza,
his band and guests. 8/10.
