    S1.E2 ∙ Soo al-Samaa (Bad Reputation)

    1994
Umm Ahmad negotiates the dowery that Farhan will pay and housing details. Farhan has not found a place to live with. She also asks Farhan to give her sometime to ask about his reputation. He gives her two weeks to conduct her investigation. Umm Ahmad's inquiries lead her to the local grocer, who agrees to look into Farhan's background. Umm Ahmad begins to hear rumors that Farhan is already married with children, shocking Samar and casting doubt on Samar and Farhan's future together. Despite Samar's disbelief, Umm Ahmad remains determined to uncover more of the truth. Umm Ahmad receives a visit from the woman claiming to be Farhan's wife, along with her baby. Umm Ahmad decides to confront Farhan with this revelation. She allows the woman and her baby to stay at their house until Farhan arrives. As they wait for Farhan, Umm Ahmad receives alarming news: Farhan is not only married but also a convicted criminal wanted by the police for smuggling. Determined to take action, Umm Ahmad plans an ambush with the police to capture Farhan at his time of arrival to her appartment. Meanwhile, Ahmad, Umm Ahmad's eldest son, returns home with baby milk powder for Farhan's wife. However, in a case of mistaken identity, the police mistake Ahmad for Farhan and take him into custody. This development further complicates the situation, leaving Umm Ahmad and Samar anxious and confused. Farhan arrives late to the planned meeting, only to find the house empty. Confused by the deserted house, he leaves without encountering the group. Later, Umm Ahmad receives a call instructing her to go to the police station with Farhan's alleged wife to identify him as he has been captured. Samar accompanies them, while Ahmad stays behind, traumatized by the earlier incident. In a tense moment, Farhan returns to the house and encounters Ahmad alone. Farhan takes out a knife and starts to peel an apple. Ahmad, frightened by Farhan's presence and the knife, fears for his safety. However, Umm Ahmad and Samar return home, revealing that Farhan, the convicted criminal, is not the same person seeking to marry Samar. This ends with Umm Ahmad explaining the issue, but insisting that Farhan provide confirmation of his clean record. Just as they begin to settle the misunderstanding, the grocer arrives, informing Umm Ahmad that the criminal Farhan was caught while stealing and he is with the police. The tension dissipates as Umm Ahmad points to Farhan sitting at the table, showcasing that he is not the wanted criminal, but an innocent suitor.
