Watching the first two episodes I was very underwhelmed, the ragging scenes & porn scenes are mildly engaging. Too many bad words, I know it's a show about hostel & college but overuse of cursing could have been avoided.
But Episodes 3,4 & 5 were just so engaging, felt so bad for Senthil at the end, going out of the way to help people and feeling used is something I truly relate with.
Pandi was just too good, his Madurai slang and his counters to each and every situation was extremely hilarious, the scenes of him & Senthil dressed as cupids were fun.
Ahana & Raja were a delight to watch, their initial conflicts, hatred to a lovely friendship was so connecting. The love triangle story was handled so well.
Ajay was such an empathetic character, story revolves mostly around him and he has done complete justice to it.
I could rate this show 10/10 but the first two episodes brought down my rating to 8/10.
Looking so forward to Season 2.

Engga Hostel is a adult comedy genre web series which launches TVF's tamil debut. The series stars a complete set of new actors.
Positives:
This series is strictly for those who like American Sitcoms. For regular cinema go-ers this series will not work.
The actors performance is delightful and they are very convincing as well as a promising debuts from the new comers
A very good production value from Prime Video
This is a technically strong series
Sendhil character's writing and acting is the biggest positive for this series
Negatives:
Repetative scenes Chittapu character is extremely annoying.
Poor direction Humor could have worked well The creators are stuck in a complex whether to make it a pure adult comedy or not which makes most scenes flat
Verdict:
A watchable fun series which could have been better. Hostel Daze is btr but this ain't bad.
Rating: 3/5.

Engga Hostel (Our(exclusive) Hostel) , labelled to be a remake of some Hindi web series, narrates the story of several characters trying to survive their college days at hostel.
See if this series came out in 2018 or something, it would have been revolutionary but at this time, where hundreds of short films and web series exist on the same concept all over internet for free, we definitely get to how 'Engga hostel' differs from its counterparts since we pay to watch this entertainment.
And the answer is nothing. Worse - this series and its screenplay is obviously confused. It is entertaining at times, we can give them that but the struggle to establish connection between the characters and the audience within 5 episodes is so visible and it felt like they were pulling efforts to make this possible.
It often felt like watching Jump Cuts as we went from one episodes to another. There were a lot of questions on why certain characters do what they do that went unanswered and a lot of feelings were unexplored.
May be this is why Amazon is doing nothing to promote this series. Final sentence is that YouTubers do better than this, why can't you?

Me and my roommate binged watched this entire series. Running for five episodes with 30 minutes each, series felt like a movie watch.
But my roommate didn't connect with the characters at all,I too felt a lag in the first two episodes but the last three episodes were just so engrossing, reminded me so much of my hostel and college.
Guess this show would be on either extremes, you connect with it or have a hatred towards it like my roommate.
Coming to the performances, the girls were just brilliant,Ahana reminded me of my days in Delhi where I struggled to fit in and felt like a outsider.
Senthil was just relatable, looking forward to him and Pandi's comeback in the next season.

Very good screenplay, the characters were defined, and the dialogues could be improved.
A lot of cussing and bad words, strictly A-rated, and has a lot of adult content
The actors did their job perfectly, and overall acting was close to reality.
Chittapan acting vera level coupled with Ahaana's beauty and Boys, Girls Hostel life were drawn distinctive.
Had love, fun, hatred, wit, and touching lines with references at the climax were icing on the cake, although not emotional.
Characters were developed so damn great, I could relate with BBT Sheldon being a socially awkward person at the beginning and nice, polite gentleman at the end.
Senthil dialogues were on point, and deep when it comes to advice, and Pandian did a good job with his presence and jokes made me choke my tea.
Definitely, a series to put your time on, wouldn't disappoint you.
Period.
