Too focused on the backstories of reality TV d-listers

I really enjoyed season one, but I found the opening episode of season two unwatchable. It feels like each of the contestants is playing a character already. And they are playing a characters they think we all know, as if they are really famous for being on a single season of another show. I have no idea about half of them. They are all overacting and over stereotyped. I would really enjoy the show if they were just regular people discovering each other at the same time as the audience discovers them. Or at least acting like normal people like Cerie did in S1. These reality contestants are so wrapped up in maintaining their own "persona" and trying to lamely act it out that it really comes across as sad and desperate.

Watching every trashy reality TV show ever made shouldn't be a prerequisite to enjoying this one.
