James Von Geld, and aspiring painter, becomes convinced that the only way to create meaningful artwork is to have experienced trauma. Frustrated that his life has been too sheltered, he comes up with the horribly misguided idea for an experimental performance art project in which he interviews famous artists about their pasts, recreates the trauma on himself, then tracks the evolution of his own artwork--he titles the work "Teardrop Hunting."

James conducts his first interview for 'Teardrop Hunting' and begins to recreate the artist's experiences on himself.

After receiving feedback on the first part of his experiment, James conducts his second interview for "Teardrop Hunting."

James misguidedly attempts to recreate the events described in the previous interview.

James attempts a risky but successful new approach to the experiment.

In the finale episode, James takes the experiment to new extremes while isolated in the wilderness.
