This film finished shooting, but it was probably never completed, because the film producers got sued, since they didn't own the rights to Charles Bukowski's novel "Ham on Rye", first published in 1982. The producers' argument is, that it's based on Bukowski's life, not his semi-autobiographical novel. At the moment, it is questionable, if this movie will ever get a release.
This film marks the third collaboration between James Franco and Keegan Allen. The two are good friends in real life.
