Love this show!
I love how this show is constantly testing if you know who "quiche" is. I love Aja Naomi King and Birdie! I really hope it gets a season 2. The editing back and forth between the timelines is perfect because they add text clues but also the coloring is different. I do weekly recaps on my TikTok channel and my audience and I are having a blast trying to figure out what's all going on. I love how the 4 main characters are like a merry band of misfits who get into all sorts of trouble on top of a murder. It's fun and light but full of drama lol. I do wish first seasons were longer than 10 episodes to give shows more of a chance for a season 2.
Mixed feelings
I was excited when I saw this show was coming. I'm a big fan of the kinda cheesy, kinda dark murder mystery genre. The idea sounded intriguing, someone is murdered but who is it? The first episode was good. But now 4 episodes in and it's losing its luster. The constant timeline changes can be confusing. And it if I'm honest, the main characters are not very likeable. I can't stand a character that constantly gets in their own way and is completely oblivious how their behavior affects everyone else. "Alice" springs to mind. The other characters have equally annoying traits.
I like how it's filmed, the scenery, the small town feel.
I wanted to love it, but right now mehh.

Why the bad reviews??
I just don't understand the bad reviews here. I love this show! It's one of our new favorites. There are so many twists and turns, and it's very suspenseful. It does remind me a lot of HTGAWM, which was another favorite. I like the quirky characters and the writing. The actors are good in their roles. The back and forth and way they present the time frame are interesting to me. Soooo many hateful, cruel people you can see why someone got murdered! Someone else recommended to me, and I'm glad I listened. Always ends on a cliffhanger, leaving you waiting for more. And I just can't wait til next episode!
Grosse Point Garden Society: An easy watch
We're only a few episodes in, but so far, this show is pretty good. The pacing is strong, it never drags, and it doesn't veer into anything over-the-top. It's not trying to be ground-breaking, it's just fun, light, and easy to settle into.
The story moves well, and there's just enough intrigue in each episode to keep you coming back. It's a good story with a glossy style. The characters have their own sexy appeal, and the tone strikes a nice balance.
That said, this show isn't for everyone. If you're looking for high drama or big twists, this ain't it. Even though this show is a bit cheesy and campy, the characters are a little shallow and one-dimensional, it works for what it is. It's the kind of show that's easy to settle into at the end of the day without feeling like a chore to follow.
I wouldn't call it a must-watch or addictive, but it fills a nice gap between overly heavy dramas and throwaway background shows. For me, it's off to a pretty good start.

There Then Gone
I saw Aja Naomi King's image pop up as I was surfing. I wondered about the cast of HTGAWM as I found it to be one of my favorite shows. I found this gem and gave it a try. I was hooked immediately. I came for Aja but got Melissa Fumero AND Nancy Travis (who I always love seeing on screen), and I was happy and intrigued. The story caught me, and I needed to know. But around episode 9, they lost me. I stopped caring; the characters became unlikable. And the situations were either too ridiculous or too convenient. I checked out, and it became background noise by episodes 12 and 13. What had a lot of potential for me fell flat on its face by the end. Cliche and unlikable.

- TriviaA running joke for the series is Birdie is trying to quit tobacco, but most episodes include at least a scene with her smoking.
