Curves Under the Mistletoe may not be the best holiday movie, but it's far from the worst

I recently watched Curves Under the Mistletoe (2023) on Tubi. The plot follows an orphaned young lady struggling through college when she meets a young man offering her a chance at success. As they fall in love, the question arises: Can their family and friends support their relationship?

Directed by Lakisha Avery Stewart (A True Christmas) and Kendra Rainey-King (Knee Deep), the film features Draper Wynston (Forbidden Daughter), Anishea Jones (Knee Deep), and Jared Gray (It's on You).

Despite occasional hits and misses in acting and dialogue, the movie surprises with a deeper-than-expected storyline, engaging characters, and enjoyable twists. While the conclusion may be a bit over-the-top with numerous reveals, the film maintains attention throughout, keeping viewers curious about the outcome.

In summary, Curves Under the Mistletoe may not be the best holiday movie, but it's far from the worst. I'd rate it 4.5/10 and recommend giving it a watch at least once.

    Superb

I have had the pleasure of meeting the writer and hearing the concept behind this Movie. We are a local TV show and received the trailers and had the chance to interview the cast. The story got me because I could relate to the Main Character. Her story is my story and when I was growing up being a plus size woman our feelings were not acknowledged. This movie touched on so many issues ranging from foster care, learning relationships with friends and teachers, and then just overcoming it all at the end and having it all.

This movie is a roller coaster because just when you think everything is perfect something happens to acknowledge that Life is not always perfect but you can get through it. The ending was a tear-jerker for me. Well done Mrs. King. You represented the issues well, and bought healing and accountability to the forefront.. In our culture getting mental health is not always accessible but watching a movie that spins it for you is accessible. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for you.

    Your number 1 Fan, Egypt.

    Absolutely Heartwarming

This movie was written with integrity and compassion. As we travel along with Delight she shares with us about her resilience. Although she winds up being a true D. I. V. A. Divine Individual Victorious In All situations, we get to view her survival. You will cry, laugh and shout thru this ride with her. Although I can not give details the psychological issues would be enough to drive a person crazy. The labyrinth alone will keep you glued to your seat and eyes glued to the screen. Kudos to the cinematographer who captured the essence of the movie. At this holiday season give yourself a gift and watch this movie which is a YES from me. 💜💛

This looks like it was shot on a Handycam

I have no idea what this movie was supposed to be about. We thought it would be funny to watch Christmas movies on Tubi and this was the first thing that came up in the search.

The entire thing sounds like they were only using the on camera microphone, except for one woman, who looks thirty-five but is playing a schoolgirl. It's like she had a hookup for a lav mic but only she was allowed to use it.

The technical blunders of cross dissolving transitions throughout, out of focus shots, people talking without any audio, etc, etc, etc. This could all be forgiven if you had something, ANYTHING, going on. But this is aimless nonsense that I would encourage everyone to watch for the sheer comedic value.

    A Must See!

I've become a fan of the indie film scene. I've also become a huge fan of Kendra Rainey-King's pen game! This story is one that's not a conventional love story and I believe this is what makes it special. I don't want to see movies that remind me of another movie every single time, be original - and this one is that.

This is not a movie that's hard to follow, and it has a beautiful storyline. The critics need to remember the more you talk bad about a movie - brings even more attention to the movie. 😘 So keep talking, because what you fail to realize is this only helps an indie film get better.
