Dongbo XueYing grows up vowing to find and rescue his mother who was kidnapped when he was young. However, his inability to develop spiritual power, Dou Chi, has hampered him but not swayed his determination.
Ge Bin attempts to attack but in the process injures JingQiu and triggers a change in XueYing. Moyang Yu's location is revealed but XueYing rides out alone.
Dongbo Xueying begins to recover but leaves, intending to enter the academy, but is suspected of being in cahoots with the demons. Meanwhile, his brother seeks his own path.
Si Borong is jealous of the recognition Dongbo Xueying receives, believing his brother to be slighted at every turn. YuoYue's attention is focused on XueYing. A surprise battle reveals strengths and weaknesses.
Jealousy builds as Si Hong hears that XueYing may be getting preferential treatment. XueYing struggles to control his DouQi even though he practices constantly. Moyang Chen is enlisted to make some powerful weapons.
Qingshi is notified of XueYing's demise. While students at the Academy recover and mourn, JungQiu joins Situ Hong and Si BoRong in investigating the source of the weapons used.
While XueYing and JingQiu work together at the bottom of Black Wind Cliff, students at the Academy are disappearing and tension among certain groups rises.
