This is the second time Alex Reid has worked on a SAS project; the first was "ultimate force."
One of the actors, Duncan Casey, employs a convincing American accent during this role, despite actually being British.
It was filmed in North Yorkshire near near Catterick Garission where a lot of the extras and advisers were serving and ex-serving members of the armed forces.
"S.A.S. selection is the toughest battle course in the world. Candidates only have two attempts at passing. If they fail both they are no longer eligible for 'The Regiment.' The 200 candidates are divided into five platoons. In spite of their physical and mental preparation many candidates do not make it past the 'Endurance Phase.' The small number of candidates left now enter the final phase of selection: 'Escape & Evasion & Tactical Questioning.' They are released into the wild without rations whilst only wearing vintage World War II coats. Operationally the S.A.S. may be required to jump into unmarked drops zones at night within yards of their target. All candidates must be able to jump with a low-level parachute.Less than 10% of candidates pass S.A.S. selection."
Prologue: "The Special Air Service (S.A.S.) is the United Kingdom's most renowned special forces regiment. The S.A.S. is the world's premiere anti-terrorist and special operations unit. This regiment is a model for armed forces all over the globe."
