Tooth Pari has been compared to the Indian version of the popular television series, Vampire Diaries, due to its dark and mysterious storyline.
Like Vampire Diaries, Tooth Pari is set against a backdrop of mystery and intrigue, with a range of supernatural elements and plot twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The series also features a talented cast of actors from Tollywood (Anjan Dutta, Kharaj, Rajatava), who bring a sense of authenticity and realism to their performances.
One of the key strengths of Tooth Pari is its depiction of Kolkata, which serves as an immersive and atmospheric setting for the story. The city's unique culture and history are woven into the plot line, adding depth and richness to the narrative.
Tooth Pari features a stellar supporting cast (Saswata, Sikander Kher, Tillotama, Revathi, Adil), who bring depth and nuance to their characters, adding richness to the storyline.

It's a vampire-human love story wherein a rebellious lady vampire with a damaged tooth and underground abode falls in love with a shy dentist on the streets of Kolkata, something which is a strict no-no!!
Presence of a vampire slayer witch and her team of Cutmundoos add on to the complexity.
Full Marks For:
... Originality and intelligent desification of foreign mythology.
... Applaud worthy cinematography of old Kolkata lanes and houses.
... Good acting by the entire cast, but Adil Hussain, Tillotama Shome and Sikandar Kher simply outshine everyone.
The lead pair Tanya Maniktala and Shantanu Maheshwari share good chemistry and strong onscreen presence.
Question Mark For:
... No clarification of hero or villain. No moral message at the end of it all !!
Do watch it !!

There's a lot here that is pretty awesome. Interwining a forlorn tale of love , longing and belonging with some delicious vampire lore based in Kolkata! The characters are etched out well and stalwarts like Rajatava Dutta , Saswata Chatterjee , Revathy , Anjan Dutta and Adil Hussain deliver the goods while Sikander , Sandeep and Tanya bring a lot of heart. Subhankar Bhar's camerawork is top notch as always. The fantasy genre finally gets some great worldbuilding in the Indian OTT space!
The graphics are competently done too. Kudos to the ever (pleasantly) surprising Pratim. D. Gupta! Excited for season 2!

Well, it indeed has an engaging story line that falls in the realm of vampire and human romance. Even though some of the dialogues are a bit over the top kind of that can make one feel that they could have been tightened up, but still the story has enough in it to keep one interested till the last. That 'enough' is the love story between a vampire and a dentist. There are so many shades of the characters involved that one feels captivated. Like Rumi, her tragic human experience, her frustration after breaking up with the doctor and engaging in more mindlessness with sub-insoector Pal, portrays her vulnerability and a certain degree of human like frailties. Reminded me of the saying: 'Perfectionism is a delusion that dangles like carrot for purists to romanticize while inperfectionism rules the roost as evergreen and trendy perfectionism.' If the makers decide to make a season 2 they must ensure the dialogues, in some cases, are more polished. All in all, this version was an engaging watch.
Not sure why these directors are trying to make TV series which are mainly for Indian Audience and revolves around Indian characters but the story is far removed from being Indian. It seems that these type of directors are heavily influenced by Hollywood horror movies but not in right ways. Instead of adopting modern movie making and storytelling styles and techincal expertises they are blindly following the age old Hollywood story tropes. And it's really funny watching Netflix falling for this types of contents.
Watching toothpari is like watching a Hollywood fan film(read series) made by a Hollywood fanboy.
