Hunting for a cold and heartless killer.

A third body is found, Taggart is now searching for a serial killer, one known as 'The Strangler.' The local residents learn about Alec's past, and vent their frustrations out on him.

It's been a good first case for Taggart, of course it's looked, famous ded and felt very different, but one thing that definitely was always apparent, even in this pilot, the quality of writing. A well written, well plotted mystery, with a couple of feasible suspects.

You are made to wait to learn just exactly who The Strangler is, and why they did it. The outcome was something of a surprise.

It's a very good production, it has a quality feel about it, arguably it looks more polished than some later episodes.

Already we've learned about Taggart, his family, Livingstone, here we get to learn a bit more about Doctor Stephen Andrews, played to perfection by the wonderful Robert Robertson.

A strong conclusion.
