I was a huge fan of The People's Court. When Judge Millian was put in this new show Justice for the People, I watched a few episodes and then quit. This is a poor substitute for what Judge Marilyn Millian had on The People's Court. Not only is the content poor, the screen format is awful. I'm really disappointed.
The cases are scripted and unlike The People's Court which had real cases with real litigants. That kept it interesting because it was different every time and unpredictable.
The set feels cheap and the overall production feels so amateurish. It almost feels as if Byron Allen was snubbing his nose at Judge Millian's talent and putting her in a position to have her show fail. He replaced her show with some less-than-spectacular judge shows that I can't even watch.

I love Marilyn Milan. She was my favorite judge on TV when she was on People's Court. Her new show has some interesting cases on it, but she doesn't act like the same, level-headed judge. She seems short tempered and overdramatic at times. Her verdicts are OK still at least, but I really used to like how assertive she was without being insulting. I just don't see that here on the show.
As much as I hate to say this, I wish she would get a contract with Judge Judy's production company instead of the one that she's on right now. What am I saying, I just really wish the People's Court was never canceled.

I wanted to watch Judge Milian's new show and realized about 2 minutes in that this is scripted. I then came here to IMDB and sure enough, it lists the actors!!
First clue: the preamble announcing they don't use actors and these are real cases is gone Second clue: the set Third: the dirty looks from the "litigants" before the hearing started.
My local station airs TPC right after this new show. It allows one to see all the differences between the two show formats. Big difference.
And then I saw that this is a Byron Allen Production. That company produces Judge Mathis, Judge Mablean and the other scripted shows. There must be an audience for this but I'm not it.

I watched The People's Court for at least 15 years. The last episode was incredible. This thing is terrible. Unwatchable. Makes me sad to see Marilyn stooping to this level for a show. I learned so much from the People's Court over the years. Why you sign a contract, how to deal with home improvement projects, getting receipts for things. Real life stuff that isn't taught in school. I got through about 4 episodes of this before I pulled the plug. Completely scripted with actors instead of litigants. Don't even waste your time on it. At least Judy Justice is still real. This thing is pure garbage. Bring back what people want, the REAL People's Court!
Judge Milian is okay, though not as "legal" as in The People's Court (she voices a lot more personal experience and opinion than in the previous show). But the litigants are so over the top and the acting so unbelievable that it occasionally makes me laugh out loud. And as others have mentioned, the set looks like it's made of cardboard. It is somewhat entertaining, so I gave it 4 stars. But I still watch the original People's Court reruns, especially those I've not seen before or forgotten about. Hopefully, Ms. Milian will have future opportunities to host a more realistic show and forget about this scripted nonsense.
