Rathnam

Once again another good decent action/story pack film directed by Hari with his third collaboration with actor Vishal.

When you watch any Hari Tamil languages movies you need to be aware of how much violence will be in his films but he always has very good story that goes with he fight scenes.

Vishal does a good job to carry this film and he acts as Rathnam who is a bad but good guy and finds his way to protect someone.

If your looking for a good action pack fight scenes then watch this film. If your looking for a good, ok story this is your film. If you are a Vishal fan then please watch this film.

I would give this film 7/10 stars or 4,5/5 stars.

Not worth to watch on theatre, could have waited for OTT release.

Songs all mokke. Not nice. Doesn't fit to the tempo of the scene.

Vishal needs another type of hair stylist. Always same style for every movie.

Positive: Camera shots, continuous shots were something new and nice to be exactly at the back of the car chase. Vishal as usual led this movie.

Got Abit of twist here and there. But at the end they covered all the plot holes which were opened throughout the movie.

Film is starting with usual way of story telling of Dir. Hari & Vishal. As expected it runs with same story line of typical vishal movie. Added few twists to show the story is different, but little engaging. Vishal is not improves, Heroine has some weights in her role, played well by PBS. Supporting role by Samuthrakani & the Villains roles are acceptable. No others scored well. All cinema one and only comedian Yogi Babu failed to deliver any notes, but Mottai Rajan collects few points. DSP music seems mixture of his own musics with few melodies from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. One song is in the latter part seems like a song. Stunts are visually engaging but same old stuffs.

Summary : One time watchable, if you are a fan of Hari / Vishal, That also in OTT.

Hari is one of those filmmakers who thinks that loud noises and endless fight scenes somehow make for an engaging movie. It's the same formula here honestly, with Vishal slashing his way through a nonsensical plot that's ultimately as boring as it is dumb. There's literally nothing that works here - a piss poor story, bad acting, annoying comedy, trash music and even the action just feels clumsy and loud. I also very specifically have to point out just how utterly embarrassing the villains were - whether it be their back stories or even just their characterization - it all reeks of laziness and incompetence. There's very little here to appreciate and even less to enjoy. Skip this, and skip any movie Hari makes in the future.

It is Hari's typical template movie with some idiotic and boring scenes. Each film he makes worsens after his film Poojai (a decent film still a good timepass movie).

This movie is about Rathnam, a henchman who works for a politician and helps a girl who resembles his mother. But later on became his own revenge story.

The action & stunt sequences for a human protagonist are overwhelming compared to regular Kollywood action films. And I can't root for Rathnam as he fights each time in the movie. The songs were poorly made and the BGM too, I can't even remember what they were like after a few minutes of finishing the movie.

The movie starts with Rathnam trying to save Malliga's life from the Villains who threaten to sell her property to them and suddenly it becomes Rathnam's revenge for his mom with the same Villains. This story shift from one plot line to another plot is unnecessary. It just felt like It was done to stretch the film length.

The romance between Rathnam and Malliga was flat. Malliga falls in love with Rathnam after he saves her once and she comes to know the true intentions of his violent actions. There is confusion in Rathnam's characterization about whether he is just emotionally attached to her because she resembles his mother or he loves her for real.

The comedy scenes are poor as they feel like nothing. Just Yogi Babu's typical characterization is where he travels with the protagonist, and body shaming, and teasing everyone.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this movie even if they like action movies with no logic and poor story.
