Relationship of Malaysia's 2 most famous politician.

While the movie is not good enough for any international film competition, the actings are okay and the script is good since it's based on true events. It's the most special movie made because Anwar is the present prime minister of Malaysia and it tells the story of why Anwar was jailed for going against prime minister Mahathir while he was the deputy prime minister. This movie was completed before Anwar won in the last election and become the prime minister. It leaves me thinking, why is Mahathir totally silent over the movie? Why didn't Mahathir take legal action against the producer and director? Isn't this the best proof that what's told in the movie must be true?

not bad..but wish it could be much much better

I went to watch this movie without prior reading any reviews about it. Maybe i should write in points form to simplify things

LIKE I felt the movie would be more interesting to watch if the focus of the story is on Azizah. Love her spirit, dedication and determination being the family caretaker when Anwar was in jail.

I like the touching opening scene as i remembered vividly what happened in 1998. It was tense and emotional. LOVE IT.

DONT LIKE one thing, i feel Farid Kamil should take the inititave to loose some weight prior the shooting. I remembered anwar being bit skinny and not well built.

    DONT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEARD

Anwar: The Untold Story" is a film that truly stands out. After watching this movie, I felt it breathed life into the human side of Anwar Ibrahim's journey, defying the claims of being mere propaganda. Based on the Royal Commission of Inquiry's findings, the film presents a heartfelt portrayal that humanizes Anwar and his experiences.

What makes this film remarkable is its balanced approach. It delves into the complexities of Anwar's life and the challenges he faced, showcasing his charisma and determination, while also addressing the controversies surrounding his trial and subsequent events. This nuanced perspective adds depth and relatability to the narrative.

The film's attention to detail and commitment to accurately representing historical events deserve applause. It recreates the atmosphere of that time, allowing viewers to emotionally connect with the struggles and triumphs of Anwar and those around him.

"Anwar: The Untold Story" invites viewers to reflect on the personal toll that political turmoil can take on individuals and their families. It humanizes Anwar by highlighting his vulnerabilities and the impact of these events on his loved ones. This approach makes the film more accessible, engaging, and relatable to a wider audience.

    Transition, characters, plot twist

For me, it was queit unpleasent from the transition between the new scene. Editting was horrible. Also, i cannot feel or see the chemistry between the actor. For example, Anwar and her wife. Between the children too. Like there was zero chemistry. I know this kind of this movie is a bit risky and political topic but i would better watch documentry rather than this movie. I got zero knowledge and moral values. There was scene about the corruption but it still too much boring dialogue with no climax at all. For almost 2 hours of the movie, i felt already sleepy at the half and desprately wanted to finish it. Unworth it. Too much people pleasing maybe 😶😶😶

A movie with disorganized contents + poor scene transitions

The storyline is about Anwar's turbulent political career from 1993, when he was appointed to be the finance minister, to his termination in 1998.

The pace is slow, with poor and disorganized sequential sub-plots.

I found that the director is NOT GOOD at storytelling! A political movie could be made in a more impactful manner with more emotional moments. However, you don't see any of these! It remains flat all the way from the beginning to the end.

Besides, the transition from one scene to another is very WEAK! It goes on too abruptly without properly addressing one scene to another. Initially, I thought that some scenes might be censored by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia. However, as time passes, I see almost every scene-transition happen in this manner. This is rather unacceptable!

As such, audiences may find the sub-plots scattered everywhere and look messy, in fact.

Also, the sub-plots lack depth. Everything is touch-n-go, as a result, audiences could hardly see the seriousness of the corruption and how it may threaten the country and people, why there is a need to take it seriously!?

It's more like an essay written by a student who has a lot of points but does not know how to structure them nicely in the right sequence with proper depth. One could hardly connect one point to another to get a good overview of the overall problems and outcomes, although one knows there is a problem somewhere.

I gave 3.0 out of 10. It's flat and boring, without much impactful emotion! As said, the director doesn't know how to use the right movie-language to connect and engage with audiences, leaving us with nothing after the movie.
