Emotionally gripping with great story telling and cinematography.

I went into this film expecting to love it regardless, as I have to admit bias being an old friend of the director. It went beyond my expectations. From beginning to end the movie grips you. While it focuses on aspects of Newfoundland culture it's complex issues are easily translated to be relatable on a global scale. The talents and direction of director Nik Sexton are all the more remarkable when you consider that some of the incredible performances given in this movie were by actors taking on their first roles. It's evident that growing up in a family involved in both acting and production has rubbed off on Nik and I can't wait to see what projects he comes up with next. I could say so much more but I don't want to add any spoilers. You won't regret watching this.

    Realistic, gritty and timely

Sexton's "Skeet" is a realistic and gritty film that resonates with audiences. The acting is excellent, and the characters, like Billy, Brandon and Mo, feel authentic. The film explores the universal struggle of feeling like an outsider, and it offers hope and understanding for those facing challenges like addiction, family issues, and adjusting to new environments.

I didn't expect this movie to hit home as hard as it did. I'm so glad my daughter took me to see it with her because it feels like such an accurate portrayal of the realities of living in St. John's, NL these days.

    Go see 'Skeet'!

Generic unoriginal anti white government funded propaganda

The tired old trope of the dumb, backwards, white folk being educated by the enlightened and civilized non white person. The Last Samurai, Dances with Wolves, Green Book, The Help just to name small few.

This has been overplayed in 1000 other movies before and the only original part is that it takes place in Newfoundland this time.

The only reason that this anti-white trop repeated so often is because hating white people is a easy way to get government funding for this no talent hacks filmmakers that can't generate any commercial interest off any actual talent or originality.

Everywhere you look throughout Europe, Canada, America, Australia tells the exact opposite story about mass importing people from the 3rd world.

This is just a middle aged millennial's fantasy of how they which immigrants would behave, but the closest they ever actually get to a immigrant is the Tim Horton's drive thru.

    A powerful and grounded story

Skeet is one of those movies that quietly grabs you and doesn't let go. It's powerful without being in your face just raw, honest storytelling done right. The film follows a guy trying to get back on his feet after prison and it handles that journey with so much care and realism.

It doesn't sugarcoat anything, and that's exactly what makes it hit hard.

It dives straight into Newfoundland's toughest social issues, especially the province's struggle with addiction, without ever coming off as preachy.

The pacing is steady (though a couple of scenes drag on), and I kinda wished some of the supporting characters had a bit more depth.

Visually, Newfoundland's rugged beauty really stands out and sticks with you long after the credits roll. Overall, this movie is powerful, thoughtful, and beautifully shot.
