The title of Danny Kresky's film, Soul Mate, which appears on the marquee and on the poster in the Kresky house is the title of a yet to be produced feature screenplay written by Isn't It Romantic's writer/director, Paul Rothbart.
The title of Danny's film, Moonlight Over Broadway is a take off on Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway. Writer/director Paul Rothbart is big fan of Allen's and created the title in tribute.
The film marks Paul Rothbart's directorial and film acting debuts.
On the Soul Mate poster the name "Lance Wilson" appears. He is one of the characters in Isn't It Romantic. The other name, Sophie Persinsky is a character in writer/director Paul Rothbart's screenplay of the same name. The names on the Moonlight Over Broadway poster, Billy Rubin and Cathy Santori are characters in an untitled short script by Rothbart.
The Kresky's car, a 1997 Mazda Miata, is actually writer/director Paul Rothbart's car. Originally a Corvette was going to be used but the owner would not allow anyone to drive it except himself. This would severely limit the shots that could be taken. 1st AD Brendan Faulkner suggested that Rothbart use his own car. Rothbart wasn't sure at first, but after seeing the film Looper, which featured Joseph Gordon-Levitt racing around in a vintage Miata, Rothbart thought the car looked great onscreen and decided to use his own in the film.
