The good streak continues with College Shark! It's funny, fast paced and a good way to close the second year of the studio. When comparing it to Despondency which ended the first year, there is a massive leap in quality. College Shark is better structured and has characters that are likeable and you want to see more of. A nice change of pace compared to the darker themed films like Deception and The Englishman. There's a lot more positives than negatives with this short film. The only negatives are although it's 17 minutes long it does end randomly quick and you want more, also Teddie and Abraham deserved more backstory!
Just over a year ago, Budget Productions rounded off their first year with Despondency which was regarded their best short film at the time. This year is rounded off with College Shark. This is the most masterfully crafted short film to date. The characters aren't boring and the chemistry is greatly improved compared to previous short films. When compared to Despondency, both are comedy films however college shark is funnier where it shouldn't be. No jokes are forced, the atmosphere and line delivery are some of the funniest in a budget short film. Definitely the best budget short film to date.
The past 3 short films have been very dark and mostly serious, so to have this is a breath of fresh air. And it might be the best Budget short film to date. It's funny, well paced and has a good enough plot twist to end the short film. Abraham and Darth Moaner are two characters I'll love to see more of as they stand out as some of the best budget characters. The quality of this short film is a lot higher compared to previous comedy related film made by Budget Productions. I hope we see more short films like this that seem to have more time and care put into them as this is the best budget short film as of yet!
By far the best budget short film. There's character development which is a first. And the characters are different and unique compared to previous character in these short films. The plot is stupid but it fits the obvious comedic tone the film is going for. The chemistry is at its best in the first half as the second half is more focussed on the shark. I enjoyed seeing these characters talk and get to know eachother. It was fun which I like. The shark could've had more screen time but the plot twist is so stupid it makes up for it. The only slight negative is that this does end quick and randomly when there feels like there should've been more.
Nearly 2 years ago was Virgin Wars: Bounty Hunters being called class and amazing. Time shave definitely changed. College shark takes all genres from their past and crams them into what is their best short film to date. College shark is funny, well made and a good watch in general. This is the longest short film by budget productions but it's paced nearly perfectly. Not a lot of scenes are boring and there is no filler. If anything there could've been more. Some characters get a lot more development and backstory than others but all share a reasonable amount of screen time. Darth Moaner is the best :)
