Anime Protagonist is a Thumbs Up

Was totally enthralled when watching. Different and so creative. The unique plot and relevant topic has me wanting to see again. I'm a true fan.

The characters are wonderful and you can see the acting is very sincere. The plot line is solid and, not just kids, but adults as well can relate. Most of us have had experiences such as this so it is relatable to all ages.

I look forward to watching another episode with a similar message-driven spot. I've not watched anything similar so appreciated the unique quality of the story line. Hope for much more the same in the near future from this talented writer/director.

I just kept smiling.

The relatable middle school moments, the cute kids and their teamwork, and the humour (sometimes in your face, sometimes more subtle) all had me grinning. Not to mention the trove of detailed connections and Easter eggs! Definitely worth the watch.

This film is filled with themes that are relatable to anyone who has memories of trying to fit in at school or who dreamed of uniting with their classmates to fight for good over evil. It's also a great watch for kids and students who are still "in the thick of it" at middle school or high school. Anime Protagonist combines sincere messages with surreal, out of this world, comic-like fun.

I'm still shocked...

I'm still shocked that this was this entire film was created by middle school students and their teacher.

The story is fantastically written and acted. The student actors are very impressive and have great comedic timing. I appreciated the many layers to the story and the many popular culture references. The camera work, editing, and special effects are better than some indie films with a massive budget. My only wish is to have seen the film on a big screen with surround sound. It would also be great to watch the film with narration from the group of actors and their teacher.

I can only imagine how engaged these students were in the project and the life lessons they learned throughout. Nice work.

Trivia
The bully character's name, Kurtis Suet, is a reference to Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders. Suet is also a synonym for "grease", as in Greaser, Ponyboy's gang.
