Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs in The Salt Path (2024)

Trivia

The Salt Path

Edit
Ralph Fiennes was the producers' first choice for Moth Winn and was keen to play the part but he withdrew when he was unexpectedly offered the lead role in Conclave (2024). Gillian Anderson apparently suggested Jason Isaacs as a replacement.
The scene where Moth (Jason Isaacs) accidentally prods Raynor (Gillian Anderson) in the face whilst removing his rucksack by the gate near the beginning of the film was an unscripted accident. Director Marianne Elliott liked how the actors stayed in character when it happened and kept it in rather than re-shoot it.
A Major investigation by The Observer Newspaper (UK) Published 6/7/2025 alleges that huge swathes of The Salt Path book and film, which were supposed to be a 'True Story' are actually false.
Being partly filmed on the north Devon coast in Ilfracombe
The South West Coast Path is a real route and is 630 miles (1010 km) long. It starts in Poole Harbour and finishes in Minehead (or vice versa if you choose to walk it that way).
